| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to |
| 3 | | congratulate Lonzo Greenwood on the occasion of his retirement |
| 4 | | from public service; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Lonzo Greenwood was elected to the East St. Louis |
| 6 | | School District #189 Board of Education in 1997 and has |
| 7 | | continued his service through April of 2025; he served as |
| 8 | | board president from November of 1997 to May 2, 2017, the |
| 9 | | longest serving board president in consecutive years, and he |
| 10 | | served as the board's vice president from April 30, 2019 to May |
| 11 | | 4, 2021; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Lonzo Greenwood served as the East St. Louis |
| 13 | | Democratic Central Committee Chairman from 2012 to 2018; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Lonzo Greenwood has also held various positions |
| 15 | | in local, county, and state government; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Lonzo Greenwood graduated from St. Louis |
| 17 | | University Law School and is an attorney by trade; therefore, |
| 18 | | be it
