SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Barbara Ann Madsen of Peoria, formerly of Jacksonville, who passed away on March 14, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Madsen was born in Chicago to Glenn and Grace (Fry) Patterson on November 23, 1932; she married Myron C. "Mike" Madsen on October 4, 1952; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Madsen was a coordinator for an exchange student program, and her open arms extended not only to the family and communities she loved but also to the lives of eight foreign exchange students she and her husband hosted in their home, as well as the many dogs they fostered and loved; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Madsen was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church in Jacksonville and then a member of Vineyard Church in Peoria; she was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi and had been very active in Scouting; she served as the president of Two Rivers Girl Scout Council; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Madsen was preceded in death by her husband, Mike; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Madsen is survived by her children, Steve (Laura) Madsen, Becky (Craig) Gillam, and Kris (Gregg) McClelland; her grandchildren, Jillian (Travis) Becquet, Kirsten (Nicky) Dover, Haley (Alan) Jones, Gus Gillam, Ashley (Ian) Nunnery, Lindsey (Caleb) York, Jaime (Chris) Leonard, Tara McClelland, Benjamin McClelland, and Timothy McClelland; her great-grandchildren, Katherine, Alden, and Claire Becquet, Hazel Dover, Lucy and Olive York, Eliza McClelland, and Edison Nunnery; and her sister, Linda (Ed) Siert; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Barbara Ann Madsen and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Barbara Madsen as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
