| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Craig A. Roberts of Washington, D.C., | ||||||
| 4 | formerly of Alton, who passed away on February 15, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Craig Roberts, the son of Jack and Rosemary | ||||||
| 6 | (Pichee) Roberts, was born in Alton on June 17, 1962; he | ||||||
| 7 | graduated from Alton High School in 1980; he attended Lewis | ||||||
| 8 | and Clark Community College, received a Bachelor of Science | ||||||
| 9 | from Western Illinois University in 1984, and continued his | ||||||
| 10 | education at the University of Illinois Springfield; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Craig Roberts began his extensive career in | ||||||
| 12 | politics as program director of the Illinois House Republican | ||||||
| 13 | Organization in 1986; he then worked as assistant to the | ||||||
| 14 | Lieutenant Governor of Illinois and later served as assistant | ||||||
| 15 | to the secretary of the Illinois Secretary of State for seven | ||||||
| 16 | years; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Craig Roberts then moved to Washington, D.C., | ||||||
| 18 | where he worked as chief of staff for Congressman John Shimkus | ||||||
| 19 | from 1997 to 2021; he later served as a special advisor for the | ||||||
| 20 | House Committee on Administration and then as a consultant, | ||||||
| 21 | concluding his career as senior vice president at Milne, | ||||||
| 22 | Wiener & Shofe Global Strategies; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Craig Roberts served as president of the House | ||||||
| 2 | Chiefs of Staff Association, the longest-existing bipartisan | ||||||
| 3 | staff association in the history of Congress, from 2015 to | ||||||
| 4 | 2020; he also served as secretary of the Capitol Hill Club | ||||||
| 5 | Board; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Craig Roberts co-authored several editions of the | ||||||
| 7 | Almanac of Illinois Politics during his time in state | ||||||
| 8 | government; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Craig Roberts was generous and humble, | ||||||
| 10 | demonstrating his kindness to family, friends, and colleagues | ||||||
| 11 | in a myriad of ways, and he will be remembered as a dedicated | ||||||
| 12 | public servant and an invaluable mentor to many; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Craig Roberts was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 14 | parents; his sister, Sheryl Goodpasture; and his grandparents; | ||||||
| 15 | and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Craig Roberts is survived by his siblings, Steven | ||||||
| 17 | Roberts, Stacy (Jim) Giddens, Cole Roberts, Shannon (Bill) | ||||||
| 18 | Willhite, and Susan (Curt) Robbins; his 17 nephews and nieces; | ||||||
| 19 | and many great-nieces and great-nephews; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||

| 1 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 2 | Craig A. Roberts and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
| 3 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 4 | further | ||||||
| 5 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 6 | presented to the family of Craig Roberts as an expression of | ||||||
| 7 | our deepest sympathy. | ||||||
