SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Joan Rosaline Babcock of 
4Jacksonville, who passed away on March 29, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joan Babcock, the daughter of James and Mary 
6Donaghy Donnelly, was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 
720, 1940; she married Gary R. Babcock in New York on February 
814, 1964; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Joan Babcock served as a certified nursing 
10assistant for many years, and she worked at the Barton W. Stone 
11Christian Home in Jacksonville; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Joan Babcock was a member of Our Savior Catholic 
13Church in Jacksonville; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Joan Babcock enjoyed cooking, gardening, watching 
15old Hollywood movies, and competing in trivia nights hosted by 
16radio station WLDS; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Joan Babcock was preceded in death by her sister, 
18Mary McKinna, and her brothers, Eugene V. Donnelly and James 
19J. Donnelly Jr.; and

1    WHEREAS, Joan Babcock is survived by her husband of 61 
2years, Gary; her children, Gary (Karen) Babcock and Mary 
3Lanning; four grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters; 
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL 
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
7Joan Rosaline Babcock and extend our sincere condolences to 
8her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it 
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to the family of Joan Babcock as an expression of our 
12deepest sympathy.
