| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Gary Lee Lane of Spaulding, who passed | ||||||
| 4 | away on May 6, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Gary Lane, the son of Allen Lane Sr. and Marjorie | ||||||
| 6 | "Marge" (Bunch) Lane, was born in Springfield on June 16, | ||||||
| 7 | 1963; he graduated from Lanphier High School in 1981; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Gary Lane, following in the footsteps of his | ||||||
| 9 | father and uncle, became a member of Iron Workers Union Local | ||||||
| 10 | 46; at the time of his passing, he was working as | ||||||
| 11 | transportation supervisor for Riverton Community Unit School | ||||||
| 12 | District #14, where he was proud to be a Riverton Hawk; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Gary Lane was always eager to support the | ||||||
| 14 | community that gave back to him, serving as a volunteer with | ||||||
| 15 | the local Habitat for Humanity organization for many years; he | ||||||
| 16 | also took his children on church mission trips to keep them | ||||||
| 17 | humble; and | ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Gary Lane was an avid fan of dirt racing, and he | ||||||
| 19 | was always ready to go to the track with his daughters and | ||||||
| 20 | friends to cheer on his favorite drivers; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Gary Lane, who was affectionately known as "Papa | ||||||
| 2 | G" to his bonus grandchildren, loved spending time with his | ||||||
| 3 | family and friends; and | ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Gary Lane was preceded in death by his parents | ||||||
| 5 | and his brother, U.S. Army PFC Robert "Bob" Lane; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Gary Lane is survived by his ex-wife and the | ||||||
| 7 | mother of his children, Brenda (Dalton) Lane; his daughters, | ||||||
| 8 | Mary Lane and Brittany Lane; his bonus children through Joy | ||||||
| 9 | Painter, Katy (Josh) West and Ryan (Heather) Painter; five | ||||||
| 10 | bonus grandchildren; his siblings, Allen "AP" Lane Jr., Mary | ||||||
| 11 | Sexton, and Janet Hutchens-Gooden; and many nieces and | ||||||
| 12 | nephews; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 15 | Gary Lee Lane and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
| 16 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 17 | further | ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to the family of Gary Lane as an expression of our | ||||||
| 20 | deepest sympathy. | ||||||
