SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Amy Rae Gudgel of Pawnee, who passed away on May 16, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Amy Gudgel, the daughter of Steve L. and Anida R. Ellis Riney, was born in Keokuk, Iowa on October 15, 1971; she graduated from Lanphier High School in Springfield in 1989; she married Steven E. "Steve" Gudgel at St. Benedict's Church in Auburn on July 13, 1996; and

WHEREAS, Amy Gudgel worked as a dispatcher for the Sangamon County Sheriff's Office for five years and then in management at the Corporation Service Company (CSC) in Springfield for 26 years; and

WHEREAS, Amy Gudgel enjoyed taking trips to Mexico and riding in her Bronco with the top off; she always loved having fun, including relaxing in a pool, playing poker with family and friends, and spending time with those she loved; and

WHEREAS, Amy Gudgel was preceded in death by her father and her niece, Megan Sheppard; and

WHEREAS, Amy Gudgel is survived by her husband of 28 years, Steve; her daughter, Hannah N. (Evan Mahan) Gudgel; her mother; her siblings, Steve Riney, Jamie Riney, and Lisa (Jamie) Flynn; her in-laws, Butch Gudgel, Connie Gudgel, Michael (Tonya) Gudgel, Tracy (Scott) Sheppard, and Melissa (Tom) Williams; several nieces and nephews; and her granddog, Rex; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Amy Rae Gudgel and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Amy Gudgel as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
