SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Glennon H. Paul, M.D., who passed away on May 12, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Paul was born to Charles and Cora (Strebler) Paul in St. Louis, Missouri on July 14, 1941; he graduated from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy and then attended medical school at the University of Missouri; he undertook his medical internship at the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital in Seattle, Washington before completing his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Washington; he then completed a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at the University of Washington; he was board certified in both Internal Medicine and in Allergy and Immunology; he married Jeanette Schroeder on April 24, 1965; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Paul served as a medical officer in the U.S. Coast Guard for the U.S. Public Health Service from 1967 to 1973, where he also worked as director of Ambulatory Medicine and director of Dermatology and Allergy; he served as medical director of Ventilator Management and medical director of Respiratory Therapy at St. John's Hospital in Springfield; he was also a teacher and clinical assistant professor at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Paul founded the Central Illinois Allergy and Respiratory Center in 1974; his highly specialized clinic was dedicated to helping people feel better, serving the people of Springfield and the surrounding area for over 50 years; he retired in May 2016, having served as a dedicated physician for over five decades; during his career, he also authored several books and patented a sinus screener device; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Paul enjoyed learning, reading, laughing, and joking around; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Paul was a born leader who always lived his life to the fullest; he was known for being humble, quick-witted, full of wisdom, and generous; he loved his family, science, knowledge, and medicine, and he will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his patients; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, David Paul, Danny Paul, and Sharon Paul; and his daughter, Ginger Paul; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Paul is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jeanette Paul; his children, Charlie (Mia) Paul, Shelly (Dave) Graupner, Marty (Jennifer) Paul, Al (Amanda) Paul, Sherry (Tim) Ungashick, Barbie (Jeff) Sauer, Andrew Paul, Sally (Chris) Maender, Danny (Sherri) Paul, and Adam (Dominique) Paul; 27 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Sr. Barbara Paul, OP; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Glennon H. Paul, M.D. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Paul as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
