| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Price Eugene "Gene" Edwards of | ||||||
| 4 | Industry, who passed away on June 9, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Gene Edwards was born to Price Charles and Mary | ||||||
| 6 | Helen Ford Edwards in Canton on September 17, 1950; he | ||||||
| 7 | graduated from Canton High School in 1968; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Gene Edwards served in the United States Navy | ||||||
| 9 | during the Vietnam War from December 21, 1969 to April 23, | ||||||
| 10 | 1971, holding the position of helmsman aboard the USS Brule | ||||||
| 11 | AKL-28 as part of the Brown Water Navy for the U.S. Naval | ||||||
| 12 | Reserve; during his military service, he saw combat in the | ||||||
| 13 | Cambodian Expeditionary; he was awarded the National Defense | ||||||
| 14 | Ribbon and a Vietnam Expeditionary Unit Citation; and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Gene Edwards married Deborah Ann (Kliffmiller) | ||||||
| 16 | Cox at Wesley United Methodist Church in Macomb on May 27, | ||||||
| 17 | 1994, and their union created a blended family; and | ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Gene Edwards loved spending time with family, | ||||||
| 19 | traveling with his wife, golfing, cooking, and watching TV; | ||||||
| 20 | and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Gene Edwards was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 2 | parents; his sister, Mary Sue Edwards; his daughter, Jessica | ||||||
| 3 | Cox; one grandson; and his father-in-law, Ivan Kliffmiller; | ||||||
| 4 | and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Gene Edwards is survived by his wife of 31 years, | ||||||
| 6 | Deborah; his sons, Charlie Hansmeyer, Ryan (Carmen) Edwards, | ||||||
| 7 | and Aaron Edwards; his daughters, Jennifer (Max) Edwards and | ||||||
| 8 | Heidi (Heath) Geiman; eight grandchildren; his brother, Ronald | ||||||
| 9 | (Harmony) Edwards; his brothers-in-law, Blaine (Carol) | ||||||
| 10 | Kliffmiller, Jeff (Jane) Kliffmiller, and Kevin Kliffmiller; | ||||||
| 11 | his sister-in-law, Sheila (John) Campbell; and his | ||||||
| 12 | mother-in-law, Anna Kliffmiller; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 15 | Price Eugene "Gene" Edwards and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
| 16 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
| 17 | it further | ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to the family of Gene Edwards as an expression of our | ||||||
