| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Thomas Charles Bohdan, who passed away | ||||||
| 4 | on April 29, 2025 at the age of 76; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Thomas Bohdan was born to Walter and Agnes Bohdan | ||||||
| 6 | in Chicago on January 30, 1949; and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Thomas Bohdan followed his lifelong passion for | ||||||
| 8 | education, receiving degrees from Kendall College and | ||||||
| 9 | Northwestern University as well as a master's degree in | ||||||
| 10 | library science from Rosary College, now Dominican University; | ||||||
| 11 | and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Thomas Bohdan held various teaching and | ||||||
| 13 | leadership positions across schools in Evanston, Oak Park, | ||||||
| 14 | River Forest, and Naperville, inspiring students through | ||||||
| 15 | innovative programs such as the Veterans History Project, | ||||||
| 16 | debate competitions, and interactive Civil War lessons; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Thomas Bohdan held a profound admiration for | ||||||
| 18 | American history, particularly the Civil War era, and he was | ||||||
| 19 | deeply engaged in religious studies, finding significance in | ||||||
| 20 | exploring various faith traditions; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Thomas Bohdan's Catholic faith was a guiding | ||||||
| 2 | force throughout his life, shaping his values, his dedication | ||||||
| 3 | to service, and his commitment to education; he remained a | ||||||
| 4 | devoted parishioner of St. Luke Church for many years; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Thomas Bohdan was a passionate antique collector | ||||||
| 6 | who delighted in uncovering historical artifacts and sharing | ||||||
| 7 | their stories with friends and family; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Thomas Bohdan is survived by his wife of 52 | ||||||
| 9 | years, Susan (Troyer) Bohdan; his children, Christopher | ||||||
| 10 | (Megan) and Theresa (Timothy Wheeler); his grandchildren, | ||||||
| 11 | Tilton, Theodore, and Wynn; his siblings, Michael, Peter, and | ||||||
| 12 | Mary Anne; and his extended family; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 15 | Thomas Charles Bohdan and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
| 16 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 17 | further | ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to the family of Thomas Bohdan as an expression of | ||||||
| 20 | our deepest sympathy. | ||||||
