SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Matthew "Matt" Turley of Sherman, who 
4passed away on September 27, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Matt Turley, the son of Jerry Stix Turley, was 
6born on December 15, 1971; he married Emily Harvey on October 
77, 2006; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Matt Turley retired from the Supreme Court of 
9Illinois after many years of service; he recently began 
10serving as a bus driver for Williamsville-Sherman Community 
11Unit School District #15; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Matt Turley enjoyed riding motorcycles and racing 
13at Lincoln Speedway; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Matt Turley was preceded in death by his father; 
15his brothers, Mark Dingman and R.J. Turley; and his sister, 
16Stacy Manion; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Matt Turley is survived by his wife, Emily; his 
18children, Isabelle, Brooklyn, Kimberly, and Kayla Turley; his 
19siblings, Laura (Jeremiah) Smith, Stephanie Cordery, Fred 
20(Corrie) Campbell, Robert (Mamie) Campbell, Jeremy Turley, and

1Christy Turley; his brother-in-law, Mark Harvey Jr.; several 
2nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many Springfield BMX family 
3members; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL 
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
6Matthew "Matt" Turley and extend our sincere condolences to 
7his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to the family of Matt Turley as an expression of our 
11deepest sympathy.
