SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Elk Grove Village Clerk Loretta 
4"Lorrie" Murphy, who passed away on June 6, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lorrie Murphy was born in Chicago; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Lorrie Murphy worked for the Village of Elk Grove 
7for 20 years; she initially served as a senior clerk, 
8beginning in 2005, and then as an administrator in the village 
9manager's office and as executive assistant for Elk Grove 
10Village Mayor Craig Johnson; she was appointed village clerk 
11in 2017; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Lorrie Murphy served as village clerk until her 
13passing; during her tenure, she was responsible for calling 
14the roll at meetings, keeping official records, and helping 
15coordinate local elections; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Lorrie Murphy will be remembered as a dear friend 
17who energetically served her community; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Lorrie Murphy is survived by her husband of 41 
19years, Michael, and her children, Kelli (Jason) Walewander and 
20Kyle Murphy; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL 
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
3Loretta "Lorrie" Murphy and extend our sincere condolences to 
4her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it 
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the family of Lorrie Murphy as an expression of 
8our deepest sympathy.
