SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Michael James "Rocky" Krause of Blandinsville, who passed away on October 7, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Michael Krause was born in Chicago to Frank and Florence (Riley) Krause on December 31, 1944; he attended Southern Illinois University before entering the U.S. Army, where he served in Vietnam; he received his teaching degree from Western Illinois University, where he later returned to earn a master's degree; he and Laura Curtis were married in Macomb on August 19, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Michael Krause held numerous jobs over the years; he worked for the Chicago Transit Authority for a time; he worked as a ladies shoe salesman, brick layer, roofer, and construction worker, and had a lawn care business; he was a teacher and behavior specialist with the West Central Illinois Special Education Cooperative for many years, and he taught adult education at the Western Illinois Correctional Center in Mount Sterling for three years; he also drove a taxi for S&G taxi in Macomb; and

WHEREAS, Michael Krause was a member of the American Legion and the Ramblers Motorcycle Club; he served on the board of the Blandinsville-Hire District Library from 2007 until 2011; and

WHEREAS, Michael Krause was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Frank William "Bill" Krause III; and

WHEREAS, Michael Krause is survived by his wife, Laura, and her children; his sister, Jeanne (John) Nunez; and a niece, nephew, and several great-nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Michael James "Rocky" Krause and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Michael Krause as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
