| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Charles Edward "Chuck" Radel of | ||||||
| 4 | Quincy, who passed away on October 19, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Chuck Radel, the son of Edward W. and Lilah Ruth | ||||||
| 6 | (Carlisle) Radel, was born in Keokuk, Iowa on November 6, | ||||||
| 7 | 1944; he was raised on a farm near Nauvoo, Illinois; he | ||||||
| 8 | graduated from Nauvoo-Colusa High School; he received his | ||||||
| 9 | bachelor's degree from Quincy University and his master's | ||||||
| 10 | degree from Western Illinois University, and he also did | ||||||
| 11 | graduate coursework in school administration from other | ||||||
| 12 | schools over the years; he married Geraldine "Gerry" | ||||||
| 13 | Fitzgerald on June 11, 1966; and | ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Chuck Radel was a history teacher at Quincy | ||||||
| 15 | Junior High School before becoming the director of | ||||||
| 16 | transportation for the Quincy Public School District; he later | ||||||
| 17 | became assistant principal of Quincy Junior High School; he | ||||||
| 18 | served the Quincy Public School District for 33 years; during | ||||||
| 19 | his career, he offered his students memorable educational | ||||||
| 20 | experiences, including canoe trips to the Current River and | ||||||
| 21 | the Washington, D.C. trips for eighth graders, and he led more | ||||||
| 22 | than 30 student trips to the Quetico Provincial Park for | ||||||
| 23 | camping and canoeing in Ontario, Canada; he also upheld | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | management of the Radel family farms along with his sister, | ||||||
| 2 | Pegi; and | ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Chuck Radel was involved in his community, | ||||||
| 4 | serving as a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and as a past | ||||||
| 5 | president of the Historical Society of Quincy and Adams | ||||||
| 6 | County, where he spearheaded the creation of the History | ||||||
| 7 | Museum on the Square; he was also involved in the creation of | ||||||
| 8 | the Lincoln Gallery, was instrumental in the creation of the | ||||||
| 9 | Quincy portion of the Looking for Lincoln Waysides, and served | ||||||
| 10 | as the local representative to the statewide Looking for | ||||||
| 11 | Lincoln committee for many years; and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Chuck Radel enjoyed working with the Boy Scouts | ||||||
| 13 | of America with his son and his grandson, Eddie; he also | ||||||
| 14 | enjoyed conducting historical reading and research, following | ||||||
| 15 | national and local news, canoeing, and camping; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Chuck Radel was preceded in death by his parents | ||||||
| 17 | and his brother, David Radel; and | ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Chuck Radel is survived by his wife of 59 years, | ||||||
| 19 | Gerry; his children, Thomas "Ted" (Julie) Radel and Patricia | ||||||
| 20 | "Tricia" Radel; his grandchildren, Joseph Radel and Edward J. | ||||||
| 21 | "Eddie" (Toni) Radel; one expected great-grandchild; his | ||||||
| 22 | siblings, Mary Margaret "Pegi" (Bill) Langan and Patricia | ||||||

| 1 | "Pat" (Rev. Charles) Bradbury; his siblings-in-law, Lenore | ||||||
| 2 | Radel, Dr. Victoria Fitzgerald, and Thomas "Tom" (Rosemary) | ||||||
| 3 | Fitzgerald; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and other | ||||||
| 4 | relatives; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 5 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 6 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 7 | Charles Edward "Chuck" Radel and extend our sincere | ||||||
| 8 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
| 9 | him; and be it further | ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 11 | presented to the family of Chuck Radel as an expression of our | ||||||
| 12 | deepest sympathy. | ||||||
