SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Gerald "Jerry" Agatucci of Peoria, who
4passed away on November 4, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jerry Agatucci, the son of Frank and Anne (Vespa)
6Agatucci, was born in Peoria on January 4, 1938; he was raised
7and educated in Peoria, graduating in 1956; he served in the
8United States Army; he married Sophie M. Funk on July 24, 1965;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jerry Agatucci was the co-owner of Peoria's
11landmark Italian restaurant, Agatucci's, which will celebrate
12its 100th year of operation in 2026; he was noted for his
13warmth, memory, and genuine connection with people, becoming
14known for his remarkable ability to remember every customer's
15name, their stories, and even their birthdays; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Jerry Agatucci gave back to his community by
17cooking countless spaghetti dinners and hosting the No-Run Run
18for Diabetes and the Diabetes Annual Golf Outing over the
19years, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for diabetes
20research; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Jerry Agatucci devoted his life to serving great

1food, offering good company, and making everyone who walked
2through his doors feel like family; he leaves behind a legacy
3of kindness, generosity, and community spirit; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Jerry Agatucci was preceded in death by his
5parents and his brother, James Agatucci; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Jerry Agatucci is survived by his wife of 60
7years, Sophie; his sons, Frank (Kimberly) Agatucci and Daniel
8(Julie) Agatucci; three grandchildren; his friends; and
9countless patrons; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Gerald "Jerry" Agatucci and extend our sincere condolences to
13his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Jerry Agatucci as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
