SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gerald "Jerry" Agatucci of Peoria, who passed away on November 4, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Agatucci, the son of Frank and Anne (Vespa) Agatucci, was born in Peoria on January 4, 1938; he was raised and educated in Peoria, graduating in 1956; he served in the United States Army; he married Sophie M. Funk on July 24, 1965; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Agatucci was the co-owner of Peoria's landmark Italian restaurant, Agatucci's, which will celebrate its 100th year of operation in 2026; he was noted for his warmth, memory, and genuine connection with people, becoming known for his remarkable ability to remember every customer's name, their stories, and even their birthdays; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Agatucci gave back to his community by cooking countless spaghetti dinners and hosting the No-Run Run for Diabetes and the Diabetes Annual Golf Outing over the years, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for diabetes research; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Agatucci devoted his life to serving great food, offering good company, and making everyone who walked through his doors feel like family; he leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and community spirit; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Agatucci was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Agatucci; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Agatucci is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sophie; his sons, Frank (Kimberly) Agatucci and Daniel (Julie) Agatucci; three grandchildren; his friends; and countless patrons; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Gerald "Jerry" Agatucci and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jerry Agatucci as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
