SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Russell Stewart Anders of 
4Springfield, who passed away on October 10, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Russell Anders was born in Springfield on 
6November 23, 1944; he served in the United States Navy as a 
7photographer, capturing moments that became part of our 
8nation's history; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Russell Anders worked with the Plumbing and 
10Steamfitters Union and as a plumbing inspector for the City of 
11Springfield; his career lasted more than 40 years, during 
12which he was known for his diligence, intelligence, and 
13integrity; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Russell Anders was a man of many talents and 
15interests; he dressed up as Santa Claus for the Sid Wood 
16Memorial Toy Run for many years, bringing joy to countless 
17children during the holiday season; he also loved building 
18model cars and semis, meticulously crafting each piece with 
19love and attention to detail; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Russell Anders was a beloved father, brother, and 
21member of the Springfield community; his life was one marked

1by dedication, service, and the joy he brought to those around 
2him; his legacy will endure through the lives he touched, the 
3work he accomplished, and the love he shared; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Russell Anders was preceded in death by his 
5parents; his siblings, Alice Dahl, Richard Lee Anders, Letha 
6Houston, Richard Anders, Richard Franklin Anders, and Mattie 
7Rosetta Luck; and his grandson, Russell Stewart Anders III; 
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Russell Anders is survived by his son, Russell 
10Anders II; his sister, Joan Elaine Nichols; and several 
11nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL 
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
14Russell Stewart Anders and extend our sincere condolences to 
15his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
18presented to the family of Russell Anders as an expression of 
19our deepest sympathy.
