| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of David "Dave" Bryant, who passed away |
| 4 | | on November 13, 2025; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dave Bryant was born to Edward and Mary Lou |
| 6 | | Bryant in Chicago on October 6, 1958; he attended Marquette |
| 7 | | Park School in Chicago until he and his family moved to |
| 8 | | California Gardens in Blue Island, where he attended St. |
| 9 | | Benedict's Catholic School; he graduated from Dwight D. |
| 10 | | Eisenhower High School in Blue Island in 1977, where he |
| 11 | | started the African Culture Awareness Club and performed as |
| 12 | | drum major in the school marching band; he later received his |
| 13 | | associate's degree from South Suburban College; he married |
| 14 | | Fran Jefferson on June 16, 1984; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Dave Bryant's work experience in the Robbins |
| 16 | | community began with the Robbins Police Department; as a |
| 17 | | concerned local resident, he served as a trustee of the |
| 18 | | Village of Robbins, a commissioner of the Robbins Park |
| 19 | | District, president of the Block Club, and president of the |
| 20 | | William Leonard Public Library; he was especially dedicated to |
| 21 | | serving in his role as advisor to Village Mayor Darren Bryant; |
| 22 | | and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Dave Bryant held additional professional roles; |
| 2 | | he worked as a counselor for Bremen Youth Services and worked |
| 3 | | at Nicor Gas; while at the latter, he was involved with En |
| 4 | | Rapport African American Employee Resources; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dave Bryant was a member of New Friendship M.B. |
| 6 | | Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher in the Youth |
| 7 | | Department, director of the Junior Choir, and a mentor to many |
| 8 | | young men in the church and in the community; he further served |
| 9 | | as a choir member, church treasurer, deacon, and minister of |
| 10 | | the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and he established Boy Scout Troop |
| 11 | | #316; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Dave Bryant enjoyed playing racquetball and |
| 13 | | skating; he also loved fishing, taking many annual fishing |
| 14 | | trips to Canada with his friends from Nicor and many solo trips |
| 15 | | to local watering holes to enjoy the solitude; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Dave Bryant was a beloved husband, father, |
| 17 | | grandfather, brother, and friend who will be remembered for |
| 18 | | his love, companionship, and friendship; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Dave Bryant was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 20 | | and |
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Dave Bryant is survived by his wife, Fran; his |

| 1 | | sons, David (Christine), Darren, and Derrick (Claudia); one |
| 2 | | grandson, with one granddaughter on the way; his sisters, |
| 3 | | Carolyn Starks and Minister Ami Bryant; his favorite cousin, |
| 4 | | Crystal Robinson; his nephews, nieces, great-nieces, |
| 5 | | great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews; |
| 6 | | additional family and friends; and his New Friendship M.B. |
| 7 | | Church family; therefore, be it |
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL |
| 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 10 | | David "Dave" Bryant and extend our sincere condolences to his |
| 11 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
| 12 | | further |
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 14 | | presented to the family of Dave Bryant as an expression of our |
| 15 | | deepest sympathy. |
