SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of David "Dave" Bryant, who passed away
4on November 13, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dave Bryant was born to Edward and Mary Lou
6Bryant in Chicago on October 6, 1958; he attended Marquette
7Park School in Chicago until he and his family moved to
8California Gardens in Blue Island, where he attended St.
9Benedict's Catholic School; he graduated from Dwight D.
10Eisenhower High School in Blue Island in 1977, where he
11started the African Culture Awareness Club and performed as
12drum major in the school marching band; he later received his
13associate's degree from South Suburban College; he married
14Fran Jefferson on June 16, 1984; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Dave Bryant's work experience in the Robbins
16community began with the Robbins Police Department; as a
17concerned local resident, he served as a trustee of the
18Village of Robbins, a commissioner of the Robbins Park
19District, president of the Block Club, and president of the
20William Leonard Public Library; he was especially dedicated to
21serving in his role as advisor to Village Mayor Darren Bryant;
22and

1    WHEREAS, Dave Bryant held additional professional roles;
2he worked as a counselor for Bremen Youth Services and worked
3at Nicor Gas; while at the latter, he was involved with En
4Rapport African American Employee Resources; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dave Bryant was a member of New Friendship M.B.
6Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher in the Youth
7Department, director of the Junior Choir, and a mentor to many
8young men in the church and in the community; he further served
9as a choir member, church treasurer, deacon, and minister of
10the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and he established Boy Scout Troop
11#316; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dave Bryant enjoyed playing racquetball and
13skating; he also loved fishing, taking many annual fishing
14trips to Canada with his friends from Nicor and many solo trips
15to local watering holes to enjoy the solitude; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Dave Bryant was a beloved husband, father,
17grandfather, brother, and friend who will be remembered for
18his love, companionship, and friendship; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Dave Bryant was preceded in death by his parents;
20and
 
21    WHEREAS, Dave Bryant is survived by his wife, Fran; his

1sons, David (Christine), Darren, and Derrick (Claudia); one
2grandson, with one granddaughter on the way; his sisters,
3Carolyn Starks and Minister Ami Bryant; his favorite cousin,
4Crystal Robinson; his nephews, nieces, great-nieces,
5great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews;
6additional family and friends; and his New Friendship M.B.
7Church family; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10David "Dave" Bryant and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Dave Bryant as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
