SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Philip R. "Phil" Supple of Normal, who
4passed away on November 22, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Phil Supple was born to John and Ruth Supple in
6Danville on February 28, 1952; he served in the United States
7Navy; after his military service, he earned a degree in
8communication from Southern Illinois University; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Phil Supple began his career in radio at WJBC,
10which soon led him into television journalism at WEEK 25,
11where he eventually became director of the news station; his
12writing and speaking skills later brought him to State Farm,
13where he served as director of public relations and played a
14key role in guiding the company's communications during
15Hurricane Katrina; he also shared his passion for storytelling
16as an instructor of communication courses at Bradley
17University; he retired in 2018; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Phil Supple was a talented guitarist, and he
19cherished making music, attending concerts, and playing in the
20praise band at Community United Church of Christ in Morton; in
21recent years, he worked at Roth Pumpkin Patch in Morton during
22the autumn months, driving the hayrack ride and the children's

1barrel train; he further contributed to his community through
2volunteering with a number of organizations throughout the
3years, including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and
4Special Olympics; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Phil Supple enjoyed retirement with his wife,
6Leah, at their home in Normal, where he embraced the things he
7loved most, including music, teaching, service, and the simple
8joy of observing a summer storm rolling in while he relaxed on
9the porch with a cold beverage and his beloved dog, Maggie; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Phil Supple lived a life defined by curiosity,
11kindness, and a gift for communication that touched countless
12people; he will be remembered for his quick wit, his warm and
13gracious personality, and the way he made everyone around him
14feel heard and valued; his legacy will live on through the
15stories he told, the music he played, and the love he shared so
16freely; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Phil Supple was preceded in death by his parents;
18and
 
19    WHEREAS, Phil Supple is survived by his wife, Leah; his
20children, John (Jenn), Annie (Charles), and Max (Sara); one
21granddaughter; his sisters, Jan (Bob) and Nancy (Jim); one
22niece; and his mother-in-law, Marilyn; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3Philip R. "Phil" Supple and extend our sincere condolences to
4his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Phil Supple as an expression of our
8deepest sympathy.
