| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Philip R. "Phil" Supple of Normal, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on November 22, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Phil Supple was born to John and Ruth Supple in | ||||||
| 6 | Danville on February 28, 1952; he served in the United States | ||||||
| 7 | Navy; after his military service, he earned a degree in | ||||||
| 8 | communication from Southern Illinois University; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Phil Supple began his career in radio at WJBC, | ||||||
| 10 | which soon led him into television journalism at WEEK 25, | ||||||
| 11 | where he eventually became director of the news station; his | ||||||
| 12 | writing and speaking skills later brought him to State Farm, | ||||||
| 13 | where he served as director of public relations and played a | ||||||
| 14 | key role in guiding the company's communications during | ||||||
| 15 | Hurricane Katrina; he also shared his passion for storytelling | ||||||
| 16 | as an instructor of communication courses at Bradley | ||||||
| 17 | University; he retired in 2018; and | ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Phil Supple was a talented guitarist, and he | ||||||
| 19 | cherished making music, attending concerts, and playing in the | ||||||
| 20 | praise band at Community United Church of Christ in Morton; in | ||||||
| 21 | recent years, he worked at Roth Pumpkin Patch in Morton during | ||||||
| 22 | the autumn months, driving the hayrack ride and the children's | ||||||

| 1 | barrel train; he further contributed to his community through | ||||||
| 2 | volunteering with a number of organizations throughout the | ||||||
| 3 | years, including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and | ||||||
| 4 | Special Olympics; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Phil Supple enjoyed retirement with his wife, | ||||||
| 6 | Leah, at their home in Normal, where he embraced the things he | ||||||
| 7 | loved most, including music, teaching, service, and the simple | ||||||
| 8 | joy of observing a summer storm rolling in while he relaxed on | ||||||
| 9 | the porch with a cold beverage and his beloved dog, Maggie; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Phil Supple lived a life defined by curiosity, | ||||||
| 11 | kindness, and a gift for communication that touched countless | ||||||
| 12 | people; he will be remembered for his quick wit, his warm and | ||||||
| 13 | gracious personality, and the way he made everyone around him | ||||||
| 14 | feel heard and valued; his legacy will live on through the | ||||||
| 15 | stories he told, the music he played, and the love he shared so | ||||||
| 16 | freely; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Phil Supple was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
| 18 | and | ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Phil Supple is survived by his wife, Leah; his | ||||||
| 20 | children, John (Jenn), Annie (Charles), and Max (Sara); one | ||||||
| 21 | granddaughter; his sisters, Jan (Bob) and Nancy (Jim); one | ||||||
| 22 | niece; and his mother-in-law, Marilyn; therefore, be it | ||||||

| 1 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 2 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 3 | Philip R. "Phil" Supple and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
| 4 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 5 | further | ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 7 | presented to the family of Phil Supple as an expression of our | ||||||
| 8 | deepest sympathy. | ||||||
