SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of John E. Salzer of East Peoria, who
4passed away on November 23, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Salzer was born to Trevlin and Margaret
6(Edwards) Salzer in Peoria on August 28, 1949; he graduated
7from East Peoria Community High School in 1967; he earned his
8degree in engineering from Bradley University; he married
9Barbara Ervin in Peoria on December 6, 1974; and
 
10    WHEREAS, John Salzer worked with Peoria Local 649 of the
11International Union of Operating Engineers from 1973 to 2009;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, John Salzer served Msgr. E.L. Grzybowski Council
147580 of the Knights of Columbus in many capacities, including
15as Grand Knight from 1997 to 1998; he was also a member of
16Spalding Assembly 0206 of the Fourth Degree Knights of
17Columbus; he was awarded the title Knight of Knights, the
18highest honor, by the Peoria Diocese Chapter of the Knights of
19Columbus in 2012; and
 
20    WHEREAS, John Salzer was a lifelong member of St. Monica
21Catholic Church in East Peoria; he was also one of the original

1founders, organizers, and chairpersons for the drive-through
2Folepi Narrated Nativity display in East Peoria; and
 
3    WHEREAS, John Salzer was preceded in death by his sister,
4Sheila; his brother, Dick; and one infant brother; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Salzer is survived by his wife of 50 years,
6Barbara Salzer; his children, Tracie Crawford, Kristie (Scott)
7Garver, and Joe (Kelly) Salzer; his brothers, Bob Salzer and
8Phil (Nancy) Salzer; five grandchildren; and five
9great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12John E. Salzer and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of John Salzer as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
