SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Rudolph Joseph "Rudy" Smolka of Park
4Ridge, who passed away on November 20, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rudy Smolka, the son of the late Walter and Wanda
6Smolka, was born in Chicago on January 19, 1948; he graduated
7from Lindblom Technical High School and Illinois College; he
8married Cynthia "Cindi" Smolka in 1970; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Rudy Smolka built a long and respected career as
10an accountant; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Rudy Smolka was dedicated to serving others and
12his community; he was a member of the Boy Scouts of America for
13more than 50 years, serving as an Eagle Scout, a troop leader,
14a mentor, and a supporter; he was also a longtime member of the
15Kiwanis and a board member of the Center of Concern; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Rudy Smolka was a man of deep faith and a lifelong
17member of the Polish National Catholic Church, and he also
18served on the Park Ridge Men's Prayer Breakfast Committee; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Rudy Smolka embraced all things Chicago, and he
20was an avid Chicago Bears and White Sox fan; and

1    WHEREAS, Rudy Smolka was a friend to all, and his family
2was the true pride and joy of his life; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Rudy Smolka was the husband of Cindi; the father
4of Matthew (Julia) Smolka and Lauren (Jason) Arndt; the
5grandfather of five; the brother of Sandra (the late Sonny)
6Dobrovolskis and Phillip (Sylvia) Smolka; and the uncle of
7many; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Rudolph Joseph "Rudy" Smith and extend our sincere condolences
11to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
12it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Rudy Smolka as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
