SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Karen "Kay" Walton of Chatham, who
4passed away on November 27, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Kay Walton, the daughter of Franklin "Teen" and
6Mary Ruth (Goff) Hall, was born in Jacksonville on September
728, 1944; while being raised in Versailles, she attended Brown
8County High School in Mount Sterling; she married Ronald
9"Ronnie" Walton in 1964, and he preceded her in death in 1988;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Kay Walton, after the passing of her husband,
12focused all of her attention on her children and
13grandchildren, and she played an integral role in the
14upbringing of some of her grandchildren; she became known as
15"Kay Kay" to her great-grandchildren; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Kay Walton cherished taking outings to Southern
17Illinois and watching her youngest grandchildren's numerous
18athletic activities and events; she also enjoyed taking many
19trips to Oregon and loved being with family at Cannon Beach on
20the Oregon coast; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Kay Walton will be remembered for her fierce

1loyalty and dedication to her family; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Kay Walton is survived by her children, Todd
3(Molly) Walton, Robin Dougherty, and Troy (Anne) Walton; seven
4granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; her sisters, Patricia
5(Raymond) Garthaus and Vicky (the late Tom) Magro; and
6numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Karen "Kay" Walton and extend our sincere condolences to her
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Kay Walton as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
