SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Donald E. "Don" McCleary of Liberty,
4who passed away on December 3, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Don McCleary, the son of Harry Clifford and
6Coletta Mary (Wiewel) McCleary, was born in Quincy on April 7,
71946; he graduated from Liberty High School in 1964; he
8married Diana Linda Morley at St. Brigid Catholic Church on
9August 16, 1969; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Don McCleary was a lifelong farmer, and he always
11appreciated the blessing of a good rain on the crops; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Don McCleary was a member of St. Peter Catholic
13Church in Quincy and a former 70-year member of St. Brigid
14Catholic Church in Liberty; he was a member of the Adams County
15Farm Bureau, the Liberty Education Foundation, the Adams
16County Soil and Water Conservation Committee, and the former
17Adams County Pork Producers; he was a member of the Liberty
18Lions Club for 44 years, and he served on Liberty Community
19District #2 School Board for 34 years and the Adams County
20Board for six years; he also served as a former president of
21St. Brigid Church's Holy Name Society and as chairman of the
22Building and Grounds Committee; and

1    WHEREAS, Don McCleary was named the Adams County
2Outstanding Young Farmer in 1979, and he received fourth place
3in the Illinois Outstanding Young Farmer in 1979, the Illinois
4School Board's Award of Excellence in 1993, the Quincy
5Herald-Whig Farm Family of the Year 1997, and the Liberty High
6School Eagle Hall of Fame's the Friend of Liberty Award; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Don McCleary loved attending his grandchildren's
8events and spending time visiting and vacationing with friends
9and family; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Don McCleary was preceded in death by his parents
11and his brother, Robert McCleary; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Don McCleary is survived by his wife of 56 years,
13Diana; his children, Dawn (Joe) Ormond, Debbie (Doug) Johnson,
14Darin (Nikki) McCleary, and David (Janice) McCleary; eight
15grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law,
16Judy McCleary; one nephew and one niece; and several
17great-nieces and great-nephews; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Donald E. "Don" McCleary and extend our sincere condolences to
