| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Joy Erlichman Miller of Nokomis, | ||||||
| 4 | Florida, who passed away on December 6, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Joy Erlichman Miller was born to Harry and Dee | ||||||
| 6 | (Kahn) Erlichman in Peoria on December 8, 1950; she attended | ||||||
| 7 | Richwoods High School; she studied education at Southern | ||||||
| 8 | Illinois University, and she received her Master of Arts in | ||||||
| 9 | Counseling from Bradley University; she later received her | ||||||
| 10 | Ph.D. with research focused on coping strategies of female | ||||||
| 11 | holocaust survivors from Walden University; she married John | ||||||
| 12 | Miller on October 17, 1976; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Joy Erlichman Miller taught at St. Philomena | ||||||
| 14 | School and in Illini Bluffs School District #327, where she | ||||||
| 15 | also became a school counselor; she practiced as a licensed | ||||||
| 16 | clinical professional counselor and as a certified master | ||||||
| 17 | addictions counsel for nearly 50 years, including opening her | ||||||
| 18 | own practice, Joy Miller & Associates; after retiring from | ||||||
| 19 | seeing clients, she founded Resiliency Productions, where she | ||||||
| 20 | hosted the annual Resiliency and Happiness conference; she | ||||||
| 21 | also served as a faculty member at Walden University and later | ||||||
| 22 | at Bradley University; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS; Joy Erlichman Miller wrote eight books focusing | ||||||
| 2 | on relationships, women's issues, and holocaust studies; she | ||||||
| 3 | hosted a weekly radio show and later a weekly mental health | ||||||
| 4 | television segment that ran for 25 years on WMBD and WEEK-TV; | ||||||
| 5 | and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Joy Erlichman Miller created the Peoria Holocaust | ||||||
| 7 | Memorial, and she chaired the Button Project, which collected | ||||||
| 8 | 11 million buttons to honor the 11 millions holocaust victims; | ||||||
| 9 | she also served as the promoter, partner, and owner of the | ||||||
| 10 | Peoria Women's Lifestyle Show for 24 years; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Joy Erlichman Miller appeared on the Sally Jesse | ||||||
| 12 | Raphael Show, the Oprah Winfrey Show, the Jenny Jones Show, | ||||||
| 13 | the Montel Williams Show, and the Geraldo Rivera Show; her | ||||||
| 14 | works have been featured in various national magazines and | ||||||
| 15 | over 30 newspapers around the United States; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Joy Erlichman Miller enjoyed traveling and | ||||||
| 17 | collecting; her greatest passion was photography, and she | ||||||
| 18 | loved to shoot pictures of nature, flowers, and especially | ||||||
| 19 | birds; and | ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Joy Erlichman Miller had an incredible ability to | ||||||
| 21 | engage with those around her, connecting with people on a deep | ||||||
| 22 | and authentic level; she was happiest when spending time with | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | her family, especially her grandchildren; and | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Joy Erlichman Miller is survived by her husband | ||||||
| 3 | of 45 years, John; her son, Josh Miller; her daughter-in-law, | ||||||
| 4 | Kelly (Katkowski) Miller; and two grandchildren; therefore, be | ||||||
| 5 | it | ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 7 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 8 | Joy Erlichman Miller and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
| 9 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
| 10 | further | ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 12 | presented to the family of Joy Erlichman Miller as an | ||||||
| 13 | expression of our deepest sympathy. | ||||||
