SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Joy Erlichman Miller of Nokomis,
4Florida, who passed away on December 6, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joy Erlichman Miller was born to Harry and Dee
6(Kahn) Erlichman in Peoria on December 8, 1950; she attended
7Richwoods High School; she studied education at Southern
8Illinois University, and she received her Master of Arts in
9Counseling from Bradley University; she later received her
10Ph.D. with research focused on coping strategies of female
11holocaust survivors from Walden University; she married John
12Miller on October 17, 1976; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Joy Erlichman Miller taught at St. Philomena
14School and in Illini Bluffs School District #327, where she
15also became a school counselor; she practiced as a licensed
16clinical professional counselor and as a certified master
17addictions counsel for nearly 50 years, including opening her
18own practice, Joy Miller & Associates; after retiring from
19seeing clients, she founded Resiliency Productions, where she
20hosted the annual Resiliency and Happiness conference; she
21also served as a faculty member at Walden University and later
22at Bradley University; and

1    WHEREAS; Joy Erlichman Miller wrote eight books focusing
2on relationships, women's issues, and holocaust studies; she
3hosted a weekly radio show and later a weekly mental health
4television segment that ran for 25 years on WMBD and WEEK-TV;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Joy Erlichman Miller created the Peoria Holocaust
7Memorial, and she chaired the Button Project, which collected
811 million buttons to honor the 11 millions holocaust victims;
9she also served as the promoter, partner, and owner of the
10Peoria Women's Lifestyle Show for 24 years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Joy Erlichman Miller appeared on the Sally Jesse
12Raphael Show, the Oprah Winfrey Show, the Jenny Jones Show,
13the Montel Williams Show, and the Geraldo Rivera Show; her
14works have been featured in various national magazines and
15over 30 newspapers around the United States; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Joy Erlichman Miller enjoyed traveling and
17collecting; her greatest passion was photography, and she
18loved to shoot pictures of nature, flowers, and especially
19birds; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Joy Erlichman Miller had an incredible ability to
21engage with those around her, connecting with people on a deep
22and authentic level; she was happiest when spending time with

1her family, especially her grandchildren; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Joy Erlichman Miller is survived by her husband
3of 45 years, John; her son, Josh Miller; her daughter-in-law,
4Kelly (Katkowski) Miller; and two grandchildren; therefore, be
5it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Joy Erlichman Miller and extend our sincere condolences to her
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Joy Erlichman Miller as an
13expression of our deepest sympathy.
