SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Rachel Lee Olson of Cantrall, who passed away on November 25, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Rachel Olson was born in Springfield to Jerry and Marlene (Markey) Olson on May 23, 1977; she was raised in Cantrall and graduated from Sacred Heart Griffin High School in 1995; and

WHEREAS, Rachel Olson began her career at the Memorial Vine Street Clinic as a research coordinator; she later transitioned into medical coding for Memorial Medical Center and St. John's Hospital and most recently served as a coding compliance auditor for the State of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Rachel Olson was also the creative spark behind the sisters' boutique, Itty Bitty Fashion Truck, bringing the idea to her sisters one summer afternoon in 2014 and laying the foundation for what would become a beloved local business rooted in sisterhood, style, and community; and

WHEREAS, Rachel Olson found peace and grounding in her yoga practice and returned to it again and again; she enjoyed a good meal and delighted in seeking out the very best restaurants wherever she traveled; she was a loyal friend to so many and a devoted mother; everything she did centered around her children; she never missed a baseball game and especially cherished taking her daughter to see Taylor Swift; and

WHEREAS, Rachel Olson's memory lives on in her children, her work, and all who loved her; and

WHEREAS, Rachel Olson was preceded in death by her father, Jerry; her brothers, James Vincent and Bradley Olson; her niece, Savannah Olson; and her aunt, Mary Lou Markey; and

WHEREAS, Rachel Olson is survived by her children, Noah and Mia Jones; her mother, Marlene Olson; her sisters, Tricia (Fred) Schlosser and Kristina (Graham) Prellwitz; her brothers, Lance (Amy) Olson and Eric (Jerin) Olson; her nieces and nephews, Jasmin Olson, Sam and Nick Schlosser, and Lilly, Emmy, Peter, and Teddy Olson; and her pets, Dolly and Willie; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Rachel Lee Olson and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rachel Olson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
