SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Gary L. McCaskill of Timewell, who
4passed away on December 16, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gary McCaskill, the son of Geraldine Melissa Ann
6Moore McCaskill and Floyd Leroy McCaskill, was born in Quincy
7on July 20, 1948; he attended Timewell Grade School and
8graduated from Brown County High School in 1966; he married
9Sandra Kay "Sandi" Six at the First Christian Church in Mt.
10Sterling on February 22, 1969; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Gary McCaskill served in the United States Army
12during the Vietnam Conflict from 1968 to 1970; after his
13return from Vietnam and until his discharge, he was stationed
14in Savannah, Georgia, where he was joined by Sandi; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Gary McCaskill was interested in horses while his
16farming family raised Polled Hereford cattle; he especially
17loved showing reining horses at the Brown County Fair and the
18Illinois State Fair; he formed lifetime friendships with many
19other horse trainers, including Roger Johnson and Mike Touley;
20and
 
21    WHEREAS, Gary McCaskill was a member of Timewell Baptist

1Church, having been baptized in 1957; he also possessed a love
2for basketball and track, which he developed in his younger
3years; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Gary McCaskill was the husband of Sandi
5McCaskill; the father of Carrie Lynn McCaskill Schmidt and
6Sara Beth (Colin Hugo) McCaskill Mulacek; the grandfather of
7seven grandchildren; and the brother of Ronald Leroy (Ruth)
8McCaskill and Randall Kay (Kris) McCaskill; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Gary L. McCaskill and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Gary McCaskill as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
