| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to |
| 3 | | congratulate St. Andrews Golf & Country Club in West Chicago |
| 4 | | on the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, St. Andrews Golf & Country Club was established |
| 6 | | by Frank Hough and his partners in West Chicago as a public, |
| 7 | | 36-hole golf facility in 1926; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, St. Andrews Golf & Country Club has been owned |
| 9 | | and operated by the Jemsek-Hinckley family for five |
| 10 | | generations, with Joe Jemsek managing the course from 1938 to |
| 11 | | 2002 and Marianne Jemsek Hinckley serving as its current |
| 12 | | chairperson, making it Illinois' oldest family-owned golf |
| 13 | | course; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, St. Andrews Golf & Country Club has set a number |
| 15 | | of precedents amidst its 100 years of operation, becoming the |
| 16 | | first public facility to host a U.S. Open Qualifier in 1947 and |
| 17 | | being the first public course to offer United States Golf |
| 18 | | Association handicaps for its regular players; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, St. Andrews Golf & Country Club has continued to |
| 20 | | grow, opening the St. Andrews Practice Center in 1990, which |
| 21 | | has repeatedly been named the top practice center in the |
|

| 1 | | Chicago area; and
|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, St. Andrews Golf & Country Club has had a number |
| 3 | | of notable athletes play on its grounds, including Olympic |
| 4 | | champion Jesse Owens, World Golf Hall of Fame member Raymond |
| 5 | | Floyd, and Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) |
| 6 | | founding member and World Golf Hall of Fame member Patty Berg, |
| 7 | | among others; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, St. Andrews Golf & Country Club has been |
| 9 | | consistently recognized, ranking as a Top 50 Public Range by |
| 10 | | the Golf Range Association of America (GRAA), receiving the |
| 11 | | National Golf Foundation Family Award and the Loyola |
| 12 | | University Family Business Award, and being named a Daily |
| 13 | | Herald Readers' Choice Top Pick for Public Golf Course, a |
| 14 | | Daily Herald Readers' Choice Best of the Best for Driving |
| 15 | | Range, and a Best of Weddings site by The Knot; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Since its opening, St. Andrews Golf & Country |
| 17 | | Club has hosted over six million rounds of golf, and the course |
| 18 | | continues to provide quality golfing and dining to Chicagoland |
| 19 | | community life since its opening a century ago; therefore, be |
| 20 | | it
