SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Nancee Church Vespa of Germantown Hills, who passed away on December 23, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Nancee Vespa was born to Harold E. and Helen (Roark) Church in Peoria on April 3, 1940; she received a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Knox College; she married Nicholas E. "Nick" Vespa Jr. on December 27, 1969; and

WHEREAS, Nancee Vespa worked as a teacher for ten years, serving schools in both Wheeling and Pekin; she also co-owned and worked at her family's business, the Kelly Seed & Hardware Co., for 50 years; and

WHEREAS, Nancee Vespa was a member of the Peoria Heights Congregational Church for more than 50 years; she was also a member of the Peoria Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, the Pimiteoui Chapter of the National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century, the National Society of Mayflower Descendants, the National Society of United States Daughters of 1812, the Peoria Historical Society, and the Peoria Garden Club; and

WHEREAS, Nancee Vespa was known for her kindness, compassion, thoughtfulness, and deep love for her family; and

WHEREAS, Nancee Vespa was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Patricia (Ralph) Johansen; and

WHEREAS, Nancee Vespa is survived by her husband of 56 years, Nick; her children, Jennifer (Jeff) Ryckaert and Nicholas (Renee) Vespa; her brother, Stephen (Kathy) Church; and four grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Nancee Church Vespa and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Nancee Vespa as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
