| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of JoAnne Fields Richardson of Peoria, | ||||||
| 4 | who passed away on December 28, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, JoAnne Richardson, the daughter of Monroe Austin | ||||||
| 6 | Fields and Jessie Lee (Higgins) Fields, was born in | ||||||
| 7 | Humansville, Missouri on August 21, 1931; she graduated from | ||||||
| 8 | Humansville High School and St. John's School of Nursing in | ||||||
| 9 | Springfield, Missouri, where she received her registered | ||||||
| 10 | nursing degree in 1952; she married Robert J. Richardson, | ||||||
| 11 | D.D.S., M.D., in Kansas City, Missouri on February 19, 1955; | ||||||
| 12 | they moved to Peoria, Illinois in July 1958, where they | ||||||
| 13 | established her husband's plastic surgery practice and raised | ||||||
| 14 | their family; and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, JoAnne Richardson worked at St. Luke's Hospital | ||||||
| 16 | and the Veterans Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, where she | ||||||
| 17 | met her husband; after moving to Illinois, she became very | ||||||
| 18 | active in Peoria, serving as a volunteer tour guide at the | ||||||
| 19 | Allied Agency Center for 10 years, a volunteer with the Peoria | ||||||
| 20 | Medical Society Alliance at Bel-Wood Nursing Home since 1971, | ||||||
| 21 | a driver for the Visiting Nurse Association Meals on Wheels | ||||||
| 22 | program for 20 years, a Girl Scout leader, and a volunteer at | ||||||
| 23 | the Salvation Army for 20 years, during which she assisted the | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | summer camp program, helped with the Red Stocking Christmas | ||||||
| 2 | Basket applications, and received the 1983 Salvation Army | ||||||
| 3 | "Others" Award; and | ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, JoAnne Richardson was active in the Peoria | ||||||
| 5 | District Dental Auxiliary, serving as president from 1964 to | ||||||
| 6 | 1965, and the Peoria Medical Auxiliary, now known as the | ||||||
| 7 | Peoria Medical Society Alliance, serving as president from | ||||||
| 8 | 1971 to 1972, becoming an honorary member in 1997, and | ||||||
| 9 | receiving the Charlotte Barbour Award in 1998; she was also an | ||||||
| 10 | active member and past officer of the Daughters of the | ||||||
| 11 | American Revolution (DAR), PEO, and the Peoria Women's Civic | ||||||
| 12 | Federation, formerly known as the Peoria Women's Club; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, JoAnne Richardson was a faithful attendee, | ||||||
| 14 | member, and devout volunteer at First Federated Church, and | ||||||
| 15 | also First Presbyterian Church for a time, since 1958; she was | ||||||
| 16 | a former chairman of the First Federated Church Board of | ||||||
| 17 | Deacons, co-chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee, a | ||||||
| 18 | founding member of the Stained-Glass Restoration Committee and | ||||||
| 19 | Fund, and a member of the church's executive board; further, | ||||||
| 20 | she participated in the Women's Club and assisted with the | ||||||
| 21 | children's programs; and | ||||||
| 22 | WHEREAS, JoAnne Richardson enjoyed gardening, both flowers | ||||||
| 23 | and vegetables, and she bestowed her love of gardening and | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | cultivating habitats for birds onto her grandchildren when | ||||||
| 2 | they came to visit in the summer; she was also well-known for | ||||||
| 3 | her love of cats; and | ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, JoAnne Richardson was preceded in death by her | ||||||
| 5 | husband of 37 years, Dr. Robert J. Richardson, and her older | ||||||
| 6 | sister, Frances Fields Yoder; and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, JoAnne Richardson is survived by her daughters, | ||||||
| 8 | Beverly (Patrick Terry) Harn Terry, Judith Lee Richardson, and | ||||||
| 9 | Mary (Brian Guhl) Richardson Guhl; seven grandchildren; six | ||||||
| 10 | great-grandchildren; her older brother, Howard Fields; and | ||||||
| 11 | many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; | ||||||
| 12 | therefore, be it | ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 15 | JoAnne Fields Richardson and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
| 16 | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
| 17 | further | ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to the family of JoAnne Richardson as an expression | ||||||
| 20 | of our deepest sympathy. | ||||||
