SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Wayne Allen Gurnsey, who passed away
4on January 1, 2026; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Wayne Gurnsey was born to James Gurnsey and Hazel
6(Colston) Gurnsey on September 26, 1948; he was raised in
7rural Cass County; he married Patricia Ann "Trish" Standish at
8St. Basil's Church in Chandlerville on July 2, 1971; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Wayne Gurnsey, after farming for many years,
10began working for People's State Bank in Chandlerville, and he
11concluded his career at Petefish, Skiles & Co. Bank; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Wayne Gurnsey Wayne was a 32nd Degree Mason and a
13member of Chandlerville Masonic Lodge 724; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Wayne Gurnsey enjoyed basketball and baseball,
15and he loved traveling across the United States with his wife,
16golfing with his sons and his friends, spending time with his
17family, showing cattle, and farming; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Wayne Gurnsey, affectionately known as "Papa
19Wayne" to his grandchildren, was immensely proud of his family
20and loved them fiercely; he will be remembered for his

1dependable, gentle, and patient nature; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Wayne Gurnsey was preceded in death by his
3parents and his nephew, Sam; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Wayne Gurnsey is survived by his wife of 54
5years, Patricia Ann Gurnsey; his sons, Aaron Wayne (Sarah
6Kink) Gurnsey and Neil Allen (Janelle) Gurnsey; five
7grandchildren; three bonus grandchildren; his sister, Sheila
8(Charlie) Burton; one niece; one great-niece; two
9great-nephews; and his siblings-in-law and their families;
10therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Wayne Allen Gurnsey and extend our sincere condolences to his
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Wayne Gurnsey as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
