SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Barbara Jean Greenwood, who passed
4away on September 4, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Barbara Greenwood was born to Rufus and Willie
6Sue Cotton in Macon, Mississippi on March 16, 1944; she
7attended the Gradwohl School of Medical Technology; she
8married Lonzo Greenwood on September 18, 1965; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Barbara Greenwood had a distinguished career
10working for Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, where she dedicated
11more than 30 years of faithful service; after retiring from
12Mallinckrodt, she worked with East St. Louis School District
13#189; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Barbara Greenwood was a loving wife, mother,
15grandmother, sister, and friend; she will be remembered for
16her kind heart, her devotion to her family, and her ability to
17brighten the lives of all who knew her; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Barbara Greenwood was preceded in death by her
19parents and her brothers, JB Cotton, Jessie E. Cotton, Willie
20J. Cotton, and Harold E. Cotton; and

1    WHEREAS, Barbara Greenwood is survived by her husband of
259 years, Lonzo; her daughters, Tracey Greenwood and LaToya
3Greenwood; three grandchildren; her siblings, Curtis Cotton,
4Rickey (Marie) Cotton, Stanley Cotton, Donnie (Linda) Cotton,
5Phinis Jones, Bruce Cotton, Josephine Lewis, Sandra Greene,
6Ruthie Farmer, Deloria (Al) Triplett, and Marilyn Cotton; and
7a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends; therefore,
8be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Barbara Jean Greenwood and extend our sincere condolences to
12her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Barbara Greenwood as an expression
16of our deepest sympathy.
