SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of George Francis Jacob, who passed away
4on January 11, 2026; and
 
5    WHEREAS, George Jacob was born in Chicago to Walter "Budd"
6and Margaret Jacob on June 10, 1964; he graduated from Dunlap
7High School and Northern Illinois University; he married
8Jeannine Couri in Peoria on August 16, 1997; and
 
9    WHEREAS, George Jacob was president of the Brewers
10Distributing Company and a member of the board of directors of
11the Associated Beer Distributors of Illinois; and
 
12    WHEREAS, George Jacob was a member of the Peoria City
13Council and Neighborhood House and co-founder of the Moonlight
14Basketball League; he was a board member of Mid America Bank
15and a trustee for the Peoria Sanitary District; he was
16involved with the Peoria City Chamber of Commerce, Easter
17Seals, St. Jude, the Steamboat Classic, and Heart of Illinois
18United Way; he also coached Peoria Area Youth Hockey; and
 
19    WHEREAS, George Jacob was always ready for an adventure,
20which he passed on to his children; he bicycled from Peoria to
21the West Coast, throughout New Zealand, Australia and parts of

1Europe; he especially loved hunting with his sons in South
2Dakota and his special date nights with his daughter,
3Katherine; and
 
4    WHEREAS, George Jacob received numerous awards, including
5being inducted into the African American Hall of Fame and the
61995 Class of Forty Leaders Under 40; and
 
7    WHEREAS, George Jacob was preceded in death by his father
8and his brothers, Walter and Paul Jacob; and
 
9    WHEREAS, George Jacob is survived by his wife, Jeannine;
10his children, George, Walter "Jake", Katherine, Thomas, and
11Bennett; his mother, Margaret Jacob; his sister, Meg Jacob;
12and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces,
13nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16George Francis Jacob and extend our sincere condolences to his
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of George Jacob as a symbol of our
21respect and esteem.
