SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to commend the U.S. Volunteers - Joint Services Command, 51st Brigade Coordination Team who helped people in the State of Washington recover from the recent floods; and

WHEREAS, The 51st Brigade Coordination Team drove 30 hours to the State of Washington and remained there from December 29, 2025 until January 6, 2026 to help clear debris, repair damage, and help get properties ready to be habitable again; and

WHEREAS, The U.S. Volunteers - Joint Services Command are all volunteers who dedicate themselves to providing military funeral honors, as a Department of Defense Approved Private Partnership Provider (AP3), and emergency response assistance; the 51st BCT serves the 5th Regional Command, which incorporates Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin, and personnel fall under the U.S. Army Volunteer Reserve (USAVR); and

WHEREAS, The U.S. Volunteers was originally established through the Act of May 28, 1789 and was active throughout our nation's history; perhaps, the most famous of the Volunteer Army was the 1st Volunteer Calvary during the Spanish-American War, which include Theodore Roosevelt's Rough Riders; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend the U.S. Volunteers - Joint Services Command, 51st Brigade Coordination Team who helped people in the State of Washington recover from the recent floods; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the U.S. Volunteers - Joint Services Command, 51st Brigade Coordination Team as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
