| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to |
| 3 | | commend the U.S. Volunteers - Joint Services Command, 51st |
| 4 | | Brigade Coordination Team who helped people in the State of |
| 5 | | Washington recover from the recent floods; and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The 51st Brigade Coordination Team drove 30 hours |
| 7 | | to the State of Washington and remained there from December |
| 8 | | 29, 2025 until January 6, 2026 to help clear debris, repair |
| 9 | | damage, and help get properties ready to be habitable again; |
| 10 | | and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, The U.S. Volunteers - Joint Services Command are |
| 12 | | all volunteers who dedicate themselves to providing military |
| 13 | | funeral honors, as a Department of Defense Approved Private |
| 14 | | Partnership Provider (AP3), and emergency response assistance; |
| 15 | | the 51st BCT serves the 5th Regional Command, which |
| 16 | | incorporates Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and |
| 17 | | Wisconsin, and personnel fall under the U.S. Army Volunteer |
| 18 | | Reserve (USAVR); and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, The U.S. Volunteers was originally established |
| 20 | | through the Act of May 28, 1789 and was active throughout our |
| 21 | | nation's history; perhaps, the most famous of the Volunteer |
| 22 | | Army was the 1st Volunteer Calvary during the Spanish-American |
