SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3commend the U.S. Volunteers - Joint Services Command, 51st
4Brigade Coordination Team who helped people in the State of
5Washington recover from the recent floods; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The 51st Brigade Coordination Team drove 30 hours
7to the State of Washington and remained there from December
829, 2025 until January 6, 2026 to help clear debris, repair
9damage, and help get properties ready to be habitable again;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, The U.S. Volunteers - Joint Services Command are
12all volunteers who dedicate themselves to providing military
13funeral honors, as a Department of Defense Approved Private
14Partnership Provider (AP3), and emergency response assistance;
15the 51st BCT serves the 5th Regional Command, which
16incorporates Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and
17Wisconsin, and personnel fall under the U.S. Army Volunteer
18Reserve (USAVR); and
 
19    WHEREAS, The U.S. Volunteers was originally established
20through the Act of May 28, 1789 and was active throughout our
21nation's history; perhaps, the most famous of the Volunteer
22Army was the 1st Volunteer Calvary during the Spanish-American

1War, which include Theodore Roosevelt's Rough Riders;
2therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend the U.S.
5Volunteers - Joint Services Command, 51st Brigade Coordination
6Team who helped people in the State of Washington recover from
7the recent floods; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the U.S. Volunteers - Joint Services Command,
1051st Brigade Coordination Team as a symbol of our respect and
11esteem.
