| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Janell Farmer of Quincy, who passed |
| 4 | | away on January 15, 2026; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Janell Farmer, the daughter of William and |
| 6 | | Marilyn Hilton, was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on October |
| 7 | | 27, 1956; she graduated from Morristown High School in 1974; |
| 8 | | she received her degree from Purdue University in 1978, where |
| 9 | | she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta and was crowned Indiana |
| 10 | | Pork Queen; she married Jim Farmer in New Palestine, Indiana |
| 11 | | on December 18, 1982; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Janell Farmer worked as a pharmaceutical sales |
| 13 | | representative for Elanco in Quincy from 1978 until 1986; she |
| 14 | | then served as an insurance agent with MassMutual until 2005; |
| 15 | | she later taught sales courses at John Wood Community College; |
| 16 | | and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Janell Farmer served on the John Wood Community |
| 18 | | College Board of Trustees for one term; she was also a |
| 19 | | longtime, active member of the John Wood Community College |
| 20 | | Foundation Board, and she started a family scholarship for |
| 21 | | John Wood Community College students; she served as a board |
| 22 | | member and volunteer of the Quincy Community Theatre, and she |

| 1 | | also volunteered at St. James Lutheran School and Unity High |
| 2 | | School; and |
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Janell Farmer held a deep appreciation for music, |
| 4 | | attending more than a dozen concerts by the Rolling Stones and |
| 5 | | many performances of the Quincy Symphony Orchestra; she |
| 6 | | cherished spending time at her family home in Osage Beach, |
| 7 | | Missouri, where she enjoyed hosting many gatherings; she loved |
| 8 | | the Christmas season, and she was an avid fan of Purdue |
| 9 | | University basketball; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Janell Farmer never met a stranger, and she had a |
| 11 | | remarkable gift for welcoming new friends into her heart; she |
| 12 | | valued being a mother above all else; and |
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Janell Farmer was preceded in death by her |
| 14 | | parents-in-law, Wallace and Faye Farmer, and her |
| 15 | | siblings-in-law, Connie Farmer and Larry Lowe; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Janell Farmer is survived by her husband of 43 |
| 17 | | years, Jim Farmer; her son, Grant (Jenna) Farmer; her |
| 18 | | grandson, Theodore Farmer; her parents, William and Mary |
| 19 | | Hilton; her brothers, Dr. Mark (Denise) Hilton and Dr. Richard |
| 20 | | (Judy) Hilton; her in-laws, Carol Lowe, Nancy Selinger, Bob |
| 21 | | Selinger, and Bill Farmer; several nieces and nephews; and her |
| 22 | | twin schnoodles, Hans and Franz; therefore, be it |

| 1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL |
| 2 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 3 | | Janell Farmer and extend our sincere condolences to her |
| 4 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
| 5 | | further |
| 6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 7 | | presented to the family of Janell Farmer as an expression of |
| 8 | | our deepest sympathy. |
