SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Patrick Cassidy "Pat" Finn, who passed
4away on December 22, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Pat Finn, the son of Leo and Betty, was born in
6Wilmette on July 31, 1965; he graduated from Marquette
7University; he married Donna Crowley; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Pat Finn studied and performed at Second City in
9Chicago, and he toured with the Second City Touring Company;
10after moving to Los Angeles, he became a founding member of the
11renowned iO West improv troupe, Beer Shark Mice; he also
12served as an adjunct professor and taught Improv for Strategic
13Communication at the University of Colorado, where he coached,
14befriended, and mentored countless students throughout the
15years; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Pat Finn's first big television role was as
17George Wendt's brother on The George Wendt Show; he had
18recurring roles on Murphy Brown, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Ed, and
19My Boys; he became known for his roles as Joe Mayo on Seinfeld
20and Dr. Roger on Friends, and he played the character Bill
21Norwood on the ABC sitcom The Middle from 2010 to 2018; he also
22served as the spokesperson and on-air personality known as

1"Toyota Pat" for Toyota of Arizona; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Pat Finn was an avid Chicago Bears fan; he was
3knowledgeable on many subjects, including having memorized all
4the state capitols and every college football mascot; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Pat Finn was a positive, loving, and humorous
6person who never met a stranger; he will be remembered as a
7prolific character actor and comedian, a dear friend, and a
8role model to many; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Patrick Finn is survived by his wife, Donna; his
10children, Cassidy, Caitlin, and Ryan; his parents; his
11siblings, Michelle (Henry), Tracy (Judy), Tom (Debbie), Kevin
12(Francie), and Katie (Matt); his siblings-in-law, Danny
13(Rebecca), Debbie (Mark), and Dianne (Mark); his many nieces
14and nephews; his improv family; and his dogs, Addison, Murphy,
15and Wally; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Patrick Cassidy "Pat" Finn and extend our sincere condolences
19to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
20it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
