| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Robert "Bobby" D'Onofrio of Chicago, |
| 4 | | who passed away on January 16, 2026; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Robert D'Onofrio was born to Joseph and Josephine |
| 6 | | D'Onofrio in Chicago on May 2, 1946; he remained deeply rooted |
| 7 | | in the city that shaped him, proudly carrying forward his |
| 8 | | Taylor Street upbringing and his Italian heritage; and |
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Robert D'Onofrio dedicated more than thirty years |
| 10 | | of honorable service to the City of Chicago through the |
| 11 | | Department of Streets and Sanitation, exemplifying the dignity |
| 12 | | of public service and the quiet pride of a man who worked hard |
| 13 | | for his community and his family; and |
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Robert D'Onofrio was a devoted husband to his |
| 15 | | beloved wife, Rena Friedman D'Onofrio; a loving father to his |
| 16 | | daughter, Jessica D'Onofrio Whitmire; a cherished |
| 17 | | father-in-law to Doug Whitmire; and a deeply proud grandfather |
| 18 | | to Jack and Grace Whitmire, whose lives were enriched daily by |
| 19 | | his joy, humor, and boundless love; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Robert D'Onofrio's life centered around family; |
| 21 | | he was known to his daughter as Dad, to his grandchildren as |

| 1 | | Papa, and to countless friends simply as Bobby; he was a loyal |
| 2 | | friend, a storyteller, a prankster, and a man whose laughter |
| 3 | | could lift any room; and |
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Robert D'Onofrio was a natural-born athlete and |
| 5 | | the embodiment of Chicago spirit; he was an avid Cubs, Bears, |
| 6 | | and Blackhawks fan, a dancer, a lover of music, and a man whose |
| 7 | | unmistakable whistle could be heard blocks away, calling those |
| 8 | | he loved toward him; and |
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Robert D'Onofrio was known for his distinctive |
| 10 | | style, confidence, and ability to find humor in any situation, |
| 11 | | bringing light even in difficult moments; he will be |
| 12 | | remembered by his daughter as always being the best dressed |
| 13 | | with the best swagger, a joyful soul whose jokes never grew old |
| 14 | | and whose presence will be found in music, laughter, and |
| 15 | | memory, especially when the Bee Gees play; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Robert D'Onofrio leaves behind a legacy of love, |
| 17 | | joy, loyalty, and laughter, and the outpouring of grief and |
| 18 | | remembrance from friends and loved ones stands as a testament |
| 19 | | to the countless lives he touched and the lifelong impressions |
| 20 | | he made; therefore, be it |
| 21 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL |
| 22 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
