SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Ethel Lucille Jesse of Girard and
4Decatur, who passed away on January 24, 2026; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ethel Jesse was born to William Garrison and
6Nellie (Karrick) Garrison in rural Carlinville on April 9,
71937; she married Edward M. Jesse on April 20, 1957, and he
8preceded her in death on April 2, 2001; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ethel Jesse worked as a CNA at Pleasant Hill
10Village in Girard, where she provided loving care for the
11residents for more than 28 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Ethel Jesse was an excellent cook and enjoyed
13baking and candy making, and some of her family's favorite
14recipes included her vegetable soup, sloppy taters, Texas
15sheet cake, and divinity and buckeyes candy; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Ethel Jesse loved her family fiercely and enjoyed
17attending family gatherings; she will be remembered for her
18tenacity and determination to live life on her terms; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Ethel Jesse was preceded in death by her parents
20and 12 siblings; and

1    WHEREAS, Ethel Jesse is survived by her children, Debra
2(Don) Giger, Edward (Kim) Jesse, and Donna Maybury; her
3grandchildren, Todd (Rebekah) Giger, Samantha (Greg) Pelcak,
4Trevor (Erica) Giger, Trent (Kimi) Giger, Sarah Jesse, and
5Brayden (Dakotah) Maybury; six great-grandchildren; four bonus
6great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, with
7one more expected; and her friends and acquaintances;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Ethel Lucille Jesse and extend our sincere condolences to her
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Ethel Jesse as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
