| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of John Henry Jordan, Ed.D, who passed |
| 4 | | away on February 15, 2026; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Jordan was born to Ordella and Eugene Jordan |
| 6 | | in Waynesboro, Mississippi on January 17, 1943; he attended |
| 7 | | Chapel Hill Elementary School, and he graduated from Riverview |
| 8 | | High School in 1960; he received a Bachelor of Science in |
| 9 | | Elementary Education from Tennessee State University in 1964, |
| 10 | | a Master of Science in Elementary Education from Olivet |
| 11 | | Nazarene College in 1972, and a Doctor of Education in Adult |
| 12 | | and Continuing Education from the University of Sarasota in |
| 13 | | 1977; and |
| 14 | | WHEREAS, John Jordan served as a teacher, a coach, an |
| 15 | | assistant principal, a businessman, a television host, an |
| 16 | | author, and a mentor to many; he was noted for executing these |
| 17 | | roles with distinction and grace, and his name became |
| 18 | | well-known throughout the communities of Waynesboro, |
| 19 | | Mississippi and Kankakee and Springfield, Illinois; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, John Jordan lived a life defined by purpose, |
| 21 | | leadership, and an unwavering commitment to others; he was |
| 22 | | always attentive to opportunities to encourage, empower, and |
