| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Father Daniel Mirabelli, CSV of |
| 4 | | Moline, who passed away on February 21, 2026; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Father Mirabelli, the son of John and Lena |
| 6 | | (Micelli) Mirabelli, was born in Chicago on September 24, |
| 7 | | 1931; he graduated from Fenwick High School, entered the |
| 8 | | Clerics of St. Viator in January of 1951, and was ordained into |
| 9 | | the priesthood by Bishop Coussens in Joliet on May 28, 1960; he |
| 10 | | earned degrees from Viatorian Seminary, Loyola University, |
| 11 | | DePaul University, and St. Ambrose University, which granted |
| 12 | | him an honorary Doctor of Humanities degree in May 2004; and |
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Father Mirabelli taught at St. Benedict |
| 14 | | Preparatory School and St. Viator High School before arriving |
| 15 | | at Alleman High School in June 1966 and spending 57 years |
| 16 | | serving in a variety of roles including teacher, chaplain, |
| 17 | | business manager, and director of development, a position in |
| 18 | | which he thrived; he was instrumental in creating unique |
| 19 | | fundraisers that became Alleman traditions, but his primary |
| 20 | | mission was ensuring Catholic education was affordable for any |
| 21 | | student who wanted to attend; he also assisted at many of the |
| 22 | | parishes in the Quad Cities and presided over countless |
| 23 | | weddings, baptisms, and funerals; and |
