| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Stephen Eurel "Steve" Hoffman of | ||||||
| 4 | Farmer City, who passed away on February 21, 2026; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Steve Hoffman was born to Marion Eurel and Anna | ||||||
| 6 | Lou (Wyatt) Hoffman Jr. in Springfield on April 13, 1961; he | ||||||
| 7 | married Nancy Morgan in Fairmont on August 18, 1984; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Steve Hoffman dedicated his life to working in | ||||||
| 9 | communications and was currently working at the Allerton Park | ||||||
| 10 | and Retreat Center in Monticello; he began his career in | ||||||
| 11 | radio, working for stations WZND, WGLT, and WZRO; he later | ||||||
| 12 | served as editor of the Piatt County Journal Republican and | ||||||
| 13 | the Farmer City Journal and as general manager of Illinois | ||||||
| 14 | Valley Press; he was also a contributor to the News Gazette in | ||||||
| 15 | Champaign and the Pantagraph in Bloomington; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Steve Hoffman was inducted into the Blue Ridge | ||||||
| 17 | Wall of Fame in 2023, honoring his time at the Farmer City | ||||||
| 18 | Journal and his work in capturing important moments at Blue | ||||||
| 19 | Ridge Community Unit School District #18; and | ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Steve Hoffman was a founding member of Trinity | ||||||
| 21 | Community Fellowship (TCF), where he shared his faith through | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | his music, and he was also a member of the local area singing | ||||||
| 2 | group Bethel in the 1990s; and | ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Steve Hoffman was a talented photographer who | ||||||
| 4 | spent his life in service to others by capturing important | ||||||
| 5 | life moments and nature, and his subjects often included | ||||||
| 6 | community members and his own grandchildren; and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Steve Hoffman, affectionately known as "Papa", | ||||||
| 8 | was the best husband, father, and grandfather who loved | ||||||
| 9 | supporting the Chicago Cubs, going on walks, and riding his | ||||||
| 10 | bicycle; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Steve Hoffman was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 12 | parents; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Steve Hoffman is survived by his wife of 41 | ||||||
| 14 | years, Nancy Hoffman; his daughters, Danielle (Paul) Huston | ||||||
| 15 | and Rebekah (Adam Ries) Hoffman; four grandchildren; his | ||||||
| 16 | siblings, David Hoffman, Cheryl (Ted) Ramirez, and Fianna | ||||||
| 17 | (Vince) Ross; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family | ||||||
| 18 | members; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 20 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 21 | Stephen Eurel "Steve" Hoffman and extend our sincere | ||||||

| 1 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
| 2 | him; and be it further | ||||||
| 3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 4 | presented to the family of Steve Hoffman as an expression of | ||||||
| 5 | our deepest sympathy. | ||||||
