SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The State of Illinois is home to a vibrant and
3diverse community of residents, representing cultures,
4traditions, and faiths from around the world; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Holi, known as the "Festival of Colors", is a
6traditional Indian holiday celebrated by millions of people in
7India and across the global diaspora; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Holi marks the arrival of spring and symbolizes
9renewal, unity, love, and the triumph of good over evil; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Celebrating Holi brings together families,
11friends, and neighbors in a spirit of joy, forgiveness, and
12community through cultural traditions that include music,
13food, and the sharing of vibrant colors; and
 
14    WHEREAS, The Indian American community has made
15significant contributions to the cultural, economic,
16educational, and civic life of Illinois; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Recognizing cultural observances such as Holi
18promotes cross-cultural understanding, strengthens community
19bonds, and affirms Illinois' commitment to inclusion and
20mutual respect; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare March 5,
32026 as Holi Day in the State of Illinois; and be it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That we encourage residents to acknowledge and
5celebrate the rich traditions and enduring contributions of
6the Indian American community throughout our State.
