SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Dr. John B. Dale of Brimfield, who
4passed away on February 15, 2026; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Dale was born in Mt. Vernon to Bruce and Diana
6(Jones) Dale on December 14, 1969; he graduated from Woodlawn
7High School in 1988, where he was class president and
8valedictorian; he attended Washington University in St. Louis
9and then Southern Illinois University School of Dental
10Medicine, where he received his doctorate in 1995; he married
11Sarah E. McKee in Alton on September 10, 1994; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dr. Dale served in the U.S. Navy as a dentist for
13seven years, achieving the rank of lieutenant commander; he
14was stationed in Maryland and Rhode Island and overseas in
15Japan; he was decorated with seven medals for outstanding
16achievement and service and began a clinic for dependent
17spouses and children while stationed in Japan; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dr. Dale left the military and returned to school
19at the St. Louis University-Center for Advanced Dental
20Education, where he received his Master of Science and
21Endodontic Specialty degree in 2001; he practiced in the
22Milwaukee, Wisconsin area for more than three years and then

1opened his own endodontist office in Peoria in February of
22004; he became a diplomate of the American Board of
3Endodontics in 2008; he opened his second location adjacent to
4Illinois Central College in 2016; he prided himself on
5spending time with patients to explain procedures while
6providing treatment as gently and quickly as possible and to
7the highest of standards; he believed in treating each patient
8as he would want his loved ones to be treated; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dr. Dale's professional memberships and
10affiliations included, Diplomate with the American Board of
11Endodontics, the Edgar D. Coolidge Study Club, the American
12Association of Endodontics, the Illinois Endodontic
13Association, the Illinois State Dental Society, the Peoria
14District Dental Society, the American Dental Association, and
15the Academy of General Dentistry (1995-2001); and
 
16    WHEREAS, Dr. Dale pursued many hobbies; he was a high
17school and college baseball umpire and a boy's high school
18basketball referee for many years; he was well-versed in
19playing many musical instruments and was currently studying
20cello; he was a private pilot who was working on becoming
21instrument rated; he loved watching old movies, traveling,
22reading, art, and spending time with family and friends; and
 
23    WHEREAS, Dr. Dale was a member of St. Mary's Catholic

1Church in Kickapoo; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Dr. Dale was preceded in death by his brother,
3Tim Dale; his beloved grandparents; and his uncle, Larry
4Reynolds; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Dale is survived by his wife, Sarah; his
6daughter, Elizabeth Dale; his mother and stepfather, Diana and
7Ron Winternheimer; his father and stepmother, Bruce and
8Candace Dale; his sister, Kristen (Rodney) Tracer; his
9nephews, Grayson, Gavin, and Griffin; two stepbrothers; one
10stepsister; and many dear aunts, uncles, and cousins;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Dr. John B. Dale and extend our sincere condolences to his
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Dr. Dale as a symbol of our deepest
19sympathy.
