SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of James Reid of Canton, who passed away 
4on February 24, 2026; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Reid was born to Dewey and Audrey (Winner) 
6Reid in Canton on March 9, 1940; he married Edna Ryan on June 
74, 1971; and
 
8    WHEREAS, James Reid served in the United States Air Force 
9from July 1958 to March 1962, and he proceeded to serve in the 
10Illinois Air National Guard from August 1963 until his 
11retirement in September 1995; and
 
12    WHEREAS, James Reid was a former member of the Canton 
13Moose Lodge; he enjoyed traveling and reading; most of all, he 
14loved spending time with his family; and
 
15    WHEREAS, James Reid was preceded in death by his wife of 29 
16years, Edna; his parents; and his brothers, Robert, Bernard, 
17and Daryl; and
 
18    WHEREAS, James Reid is survived by his children, Kathy 
19Lock and Larry Cook; his grandchildren, Larry (the late Sarah) 
20Cook, Tammy (Lance) Tindall, and Jeff Lock; 16

1great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and 
2many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL 
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
5James Reid and extend our sincere condolences to his family, 
6friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to the family of James Reid as an expression of our 
9deepest sympathy.
