SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3congratulate the Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake County
4on its 100th anniversary; and
 
5    WHEREAS, The Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake County
6was founded on May 27, 1926 under the authority granted by the
7Illinois Military Veterans Assistance Act to create a
8county-based system of veteran support governed by veterans
9themselves, providing the just, necessary, and needed services
10for all veterans and their families, reflecting Illinois'
11enduring commitment to those who wore the uniform; and
 
12    WHEREAS, The Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake County
13has remained steadfast for 100 years in its mission to serve
14those who have served our nation, ensuring access to emergency
15financial assistance, housing support, transportation,
16employment resources, and advocacy; and
 
17    WHEREAS, The Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake
18County, throughout its distinguished history, has assisted
19thousands of veterans from all branches of the United States
20Armed Forces, including those who served during World War II,
21the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, and the Global
22War on Terror; and

1    WHEREAS, The Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake County
2has worked collaboratively with local, state, and federal
3partners, including the United States Department of Veterans
4Affairs and numerous veteran service organizations, to ensure
5veterans receive the benefits and recognition they have
6earned; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake County
8has demonstrated exemplary stewardship, fiscal responsibility,
9and compassion in addressing the evolving needs of veterans
10over the course of a century; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the
13Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake County on its 100th
14anniversary; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
16presented to the Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake County
17in Gurnee and Superintendent Andrew Tangen as a symbol of our
18respect and esteem.
