SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Dale R. Young of Brimfield, who passed
4away on February 7, 2026; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dale Young, the son of George and Mary Young, was
6born in Bloomington on June 12, 1939; he graduated from Peoria
7High School and Bradley University; he served in the United
8States Army; he married Gloria Closen on November 22, 1962,
9and she preceded him in death in 2000; he married Myra Welk on
10September 29, 2001; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Dale Young enjoyed a long, successful career in
12semi-trailer sales, repairs, and maintenance, first working
13for Road Equipment before spending most of his career as
14owner, vice president, and general manager for Jim Hawk Truck
15and Trailer in East Peoria; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Dale Young was an avid athlete and fitness
17enthusiast who played semi-professional hockey and enjoyed
18boating, horseback riding, trail driving, skiing, playing
19racquetball, golfing, swimming, and other athletic activities;
20he was also a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast and saw much of
21the United States from the seats of his Honda Gold Wings; and

1    WHEREAS, Dale Young enjoyed a very close relationship with
2his entire family, valuing all the time they spent together;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, Dale Young was preceded in death by his parents
5and his sister, Marjorie; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dale Young is survived by his wife of 24 years,
7Myra; his children, Kimberly Young and Christopher Young; his
8stepchildren, William (Gail) Welk, Ronald (Christina) Welk,
9and Leslie Welk; one granddaughter; five step-grandchildren;
10and nine great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Dale R. Young and extend our sincere condolences to his
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Dale Young as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
