SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, A delegation of members from the Illinois
3chapters of The Links, Incorporated will attend the
4organization's annual Illinois Links Legislative Day at the
5Capitol on March 24 through March 25, 2026; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated is an international,
7not-for-profit corporation established in 1946 for the
8purposes of education, civic engagement, and cultural
9enrichment; and
 
10    WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated has a membership of more
11than 17,000 professional women in 303 chapters located in 41
12states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the
13Bahamas, and the United Kingdom, who are influential
14decision-makers and opinion leaders; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Members of The Links, Incorporated provide over
16one million service hours annually across five primary
17programmatic areas, known as the facets, which include
18Services to Youth, The Arts, National Trends and Services,
19International Trends and Services, and Health and Human
20Services; and
 
21    WHEREAS, The mission of The Links, Incorporated, "Friends

1Transforming Communities Through Service", is realized daily
2through its impactful programs and service initiatives; and
 
3    WHEREAS, The 2026 Illinois Links Legislative Day at the
4Capitol will focus on critical health issues, particularly
5kidney disease, home dialysis, and economic disparities; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Members of The Links, Incorporated will engage in
7discussions with legislators on matters of health and economic
8sustainability, topics of particular importance to the
9organization; and
 
10    WHEREAS, The Central Area of The Links, Incorporated is
11comprised of 3,900 influential women who provide impactful
12programming in 73 communities throughout 17 states in the
13Midwest, known as "the Heart of Linkdom"; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Central Area members contribute more than 194,000
15documented service hours annually by engaging external
16organizations and community partnerships; and
 
17    WHEREAS, The Central Area is represented by its Illinois
18chapters, which include the Central Illinois Chapter, the
19Chicago Chapter, the Gateway Chapter, the Harbor Lites
20Chapter, the Hoffman Estates Chapter, the Lake Shore Chapter,
21the North Shore Chapter, the Quad Cities Chapter, the South

1Suburban Chicago Chapter, the Tri-County Chapter, the Windy
2City Chapter, and the West Towns Chapter; and
 
3    WHEREAS, The 2026 Illinois Links Legislative Day at the
4Capitol encompasses the theme of "Spotlight Illinois:
5Strengthening Our Foundation for the Future"; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare March 25,
82026 as Links Day in the State of Illinois; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That we congratulate Director Sheila R. Brown of
10the Central Area of The Links, Incorporated and its members on
11their unwavering commitment to service; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to Central Area Director Sheila R. Brown as a symbol
14of our respect and esteem.
