SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Women's History Month is observed annually in the
3United States during the month of March to recognize and
4celebrate the vital contributions and achievements of women
5throughout the United States and around the world; and
 
6    WHEREAS, March 8 is universally recognized as
7International Women's Day, which honors the achievements and
8contributions of women globally; and
 
9    WHEREAS, The United Nations celebrated its first official
10International Women's Day during International Women's Year on
11March 8, 1975, highlighting the global importance of
12recognizing women's accomplishments; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Women have played a vital role in shaping the
14history, prosperity, and character of the United States
15through leadership in families, communities, the workforce,
16and public service; and
 
17    WHEREAS, The strength of the United States has always been
18rooted in strong families, and women serving as mothers,
19daughters, sisters, caregivers, entrepreneurs, educators, and
20leaders have been essential to nurturing those families and
21communities; and

1    WHEREAS, Throughout our nation's history, women have made
2extraordinary contributions in various fields, including
3agriculture, business, education, health care, law
4enforcement, the military, public safety, public service,
5science, and technology; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Women-owned businesses and women participating in
7the workforce have contributed significantly to economic
8growth, job creation, and innovation across the State of
9Illinois and the United States; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Women have demonstrated leadership and courage in
11advancing opportunity, defending liberty, and strengthening
12the institutions that uphold the founding principles of the
13United States; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Generations of women have worked to ensure that
15every individual has the opportunity to pursue education,
16develop their respective talents, and contribute meaningfully
17to the success of their communities and the nation; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Women continue to serve our country with
19distinction in emergency response roles, law enforcement, and
20the United States Armed Forces, demonstrating bravery,
21dedication, and commitment to protecting the freedoms enjoyed

1by all Americans; and
 
2    WHEREAS, The observance of Women's History Month provides
3an opportunity to reflect upon the achievements of women
4throughout history and to recognize their ongoing
5contributions to the success and prosperity of our State and
6nation; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Recognizing the accomplishments of women serves
8to inspire young women and girls to pursue education,
9leadership, entrepreneurship, service, and innovation in every
10field of endeavor; and
 
11    WHEREAS, It is appropriate to celebrate the achievements
12of women and reaffirm a commitment to expanding opportunity so
13that women may continue to thrive, lead, and contribute to the
14strength of the State of Illinois and the United States;
15therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare March 2026
18as Women's History Month in the State of Illinois; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That we honor the achievements and contributions
21of women throughout the State of Illinois, the United States,

1and the world; and be it further
 
2    RESOLVED, That we encourage citizens to recognize and
3celebrate the women in their lives and communities whose
4dedication, service, and leadership strengthen our State and
5nation.
