| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Butler McGee Jr. of Chicago, who |
| 4 | | passed away on March 2, 2026; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Butler McGee, the son of Butler and Annie |
| 6 | | (Cozark) McGee Sr., was born in Hayti, Missouri on February |
| 7 | | 20, 1937; he married Odessa Kirkendall; and |
| 8 | | WHEREAS, After moving to Chicago in 1955, Butler McGee |
| 9 | | worked as a taxi driver for nearly 25 years and later became an |
| 10 | | entrepreneur; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Butler McGee loved spending time with his family, |
| 12 | | visiting the racetrack and casinos, and playing card games, |
| 13 | | and he enjoyed watching basketball games and westerns on |
| 14 | | television; he maintained a neat and well-groomed appearance |
| 15 | | throughout his life, receiving help from his grandson when his |
| 16 | | health began to change; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Butler McGee had a loving nature and was unafraid |
| 18 | | to defend what he valued; his strength, resilience, and |
| 19 | | integrity were an inspiration to those who loved him; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Butler McGee was preceded in death by his |
