| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Betsy Jones, who passed away on March |
| 4 | | 1, 2026; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Betsy Jones was a renowned early childhood string |
| 6 | | educator and State of Illinois Master Teacher; she worked as |
| 7 | | the orchestra teacher at Peoria High School and the conductor |
| 8 | | of one of the Central Illinois Youth Symphony Orchestras; she |
| 9 | | also served as the principal of the Peoria Symphony second |
| 10 | | violin section for more than 30 years; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Betsy Jones devoted her life to nurturing young |
| 12 | | musicians; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Betsy Jones is survived by her husband, David |
| 14 | | Jones; her children, Lindsay Serdar, Dr. Kate Jones, Ben |
| 15 | | Jones, Michael Jones, and Eric Rupp; nine grandchildren; and |
| 16 | | two great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
|
| 17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL |
| 18 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 19 | | Betsy Jones and extend our sincere condolences to her family, |
| 20 | | friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
