SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to commend Frank J. Mautino on the occasion of his retirement from public service after faithfully serving the people of this State as Illinois Auditor General for a decade; and

WHEREAS, The Office of the Auditor General is one of the most important oversight institutions in Illinois State government, charged with conducting independent financial, compliance, and performance audits to ensure that public funds are managed responsibly and that State agencies operate in accordance with the law; and

WHEREAS, In carrying out these responsibilities, the Office of the Auditor General serves as a vital resource to the Illinois General Assembly, providing legislators and the public with objective and reliable information regarding the administration and performance of State programs; and

WHEREAS, Since assuming office in 2016, Frank Mautino has led the Office of the Auditor General with professionalism, diligence, and integrity, overseeing the completion of hundreds of audits of State agencies, universities, boards, commissions, and programs; and

WHEREAS, Frank Mautino's audits have provided transparency into State operations, identified opportunities for improved internal controls and efficiencies, and ensured compliance with State and federal laws governing the use of public resources; and

WHEREAS, Through Frank Mautino's leadership, the Office of the Auditor General has continued its long-standing reputation for independence and nonpartisan professionalism, providing fair and thorough evaluations of State government operations while maintaining the confidence of both the legislative and executive branches; and

WHEREAS, As Illinois Auditor General, Frank Mautino's work has played an essential role in safeguarding taxpayer dollars and strengthening accountability in State government, thereby helping to maintain the public's trust in governmental institutions; and

WHEREAS, During his tenure, Frank Mautino has worked closely with legislators, committee staff, and State agencies to ensure that audit findings were clearly communicated and that recommendations for improved practices and stronger financial oversight were carefully considered; and

WHEREAS, Under Frank Mautino's leadership, the reports issued by the Office of the Auditor General have assisted policymakers in addressing operational deficiencies, strengthening financial management practices, and improving the delivery of services to the people of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Under Frank Mautino's stewardship, the Office of the Auditor General, which has historically played a central role in supporting the oversight responsibilities of the General Assembly, has continued to serve as a trusted source of independent analysis and evaluation of State government programs; and

WHEREAS, Prior to his appointment as Auditor General, Frank Mautino devoted many years to public service as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing his district with dedication and working on issues related to fiscal responsibility, State operations, and public policy; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his career in public service, Frank Mautino has demonstrated a commitment to improving government, strengthening accountability, and ensuring that the institutions of State government operate effectively and responsibly; and

WHEREAS, Frank Mautino's completion of his ten-year term as Auditor General marks the conclusion of an important chapter of service to the State of Illinois and reflects a career dedicated to public accountability and good governance; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend Frank J. Mautino for his decade of service as Illinois Auditor General and express our appreciation for his dedication to strengthening transparency, accountability, and fiscal stewardship in State government; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we thank Frank Mautino for his years of faithful public service and offer our best wishes for continued success, health, and happiness in his retirement; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Frank Mautino as a symbol of our respect and appreciation.
