SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3commend Frank J. Mautino on the occasion of his retirement
4from public service after faithfully serving the people of
5this State as Illinois Auditor General for a decade; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Office of the Auditor General is one of the
7most important oversight institutions in Illinois State
8government, charged with conducting independent financial,
9compliance, and performance audits to ensure that public funds
10are managed responsibly and that State agencies operate in
11accordance with the law; and
 
12    WHEREAS, In carrying out these responsibilities, the
13Office of the Auditor General serves as a vital resource to the
14Illinois General Assembly, providing legislators and the
15public with objective and reliable information regarding the
16administration and performance of State programs; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Since assuming office in 2016, Frank Mautino has
18led the Office of the Auditor General with professionalism,
19diligence, and integrity, overseeing the completion of
20hundreds of audits of State agencies, universities, boards,
21commissions, and programs; and

1    WHEREAS, Frank Mautino's audits have provided transparency
2into State operations, identified opportunities for improved
3internal controls and efficiencies, and ensured compliance
4with State and federal laws governing the use of public
5resources; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Through Frank Mautino's leadership, the Office of
7the Auditor General has continued its long-standing reputation
8for independence and nonpartisan professionalism, providing
9fair and thorough evaluations of State government operations
10while maintaining the confidence of both the legislative and
11executive branches; and
 
12    WHEREAS, As Illinois Auditor General, Frank Mautino's work
13has played an essential role in safeguarding taxpayer dollars
14and strengthening accountability in State government, thereby
15helping to maintain the public's trust in governmental
16institutions; and
 
17    WHEREAS, During his tenure, Frank Mautino has worked
18closely with legislators, committee staff, and State agencies
19to ensure that audit findings were clearly communicated and
20that recommendations for improved practices and stronger
21financial oversight were carefully considered; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Under Frank Mautino's leadership, the reports

1issued by the Office of the Auditor General have assisted
2policymakers in addressing operational deficiencies,
3strengthening financial management practices, and improving
4the delivery of services to the people of Illinois; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Under Frank Mautino's stewardship, the Office of
6the Auditor General, which has historically played a central
7role in supporting the oversight responsibilities of the
8General Assembly, has continued to serve as a trusted source
9of independent analysis and evaluation of State government
10programs; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Prior to his appointment as Auditor General,
12Frank Mautino devoted many years to public service as a member
13of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing his
14district with dedication and working on issues related to
15fiscal responsibility, State operations, and public policy;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, Throughout his career in public service, Frank
18Mautino has demonstrated a commitment to improving government,
19strengthening accountability, and ensuring that the
20institutions of State government operate effectively and
21responsibly; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Frank Mautino's completion of his ten-year term

1as Auditor General marks the conclusion of an important
2chapter of service to the State of Illinois and reflects a
3career dedicated to public accountability and good governance;
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend Frank J.
7Mautino for his decade of service as Illinois Auditor General
8and express our appreciation for his dedication to
9strengthening transparency, accountability, and fiscal
10stewardship in State government; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That we thank Frank Mautino for his years of
12faithful public service and offer our best wishes for
13continued success, health, and happiness in his retirement;
14and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to Frank Mautino as a symbol of our respect and
17appreciation.
