SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Eugenia C. "Jeanne" McCarthy of Springfield, who passed away on April 24, 2026; and

WHEREAS, Jeanne McCarthy, the daughter of George and Maxine (Cripe) Reisch, was born in Springfield on November 21, 1935; she graduated from St. Agnes Grade School and Sacred Heart Academy; she married John "Jack" McCarthy at St. Agnes Catholic Church on January 8, 1955; and

WHEREAS, Jeanne McCarthy was a longtime and active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where she attended Mass daily; and

WHEREAS, Jeanne McCarthy was a wonderful cook whose Christmas spreads and fried chicken were legendary; she was an accomplished bridge player who spent countless evenings playing cards with her neighbors; and

WHEREAS, Jeanne McCarthy lived for her faith and her family, dedicating her life to loving and caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; she was the ultimate role model, teacher, and nurturer; and

WHEREAS, Jeanne McCarthy was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her son, John McCarthy Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Jeanne McCarthy is survived by her children, Michelle McCarthy, Timothy (Rose) McCarthy, and Michael McCarthy; her daughter-in-law, Leslie McCarthy; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her siblings, Catherine "Kit" Copeland, Marilyn Bush, and Elizabeth (Robert) Fox; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Eugenia C. "Jeanne" McCarthy and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jeanne McCarthy as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
