SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Eugenia C. "Jeanne" McCarthy of
4Springfield, who passed away on April 24, 2026; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jeanne McCarthy, the daughter of George and
6Maxine (Cripe) Reisch, was born in Springfield on November 21,
71935; she graduated from St. Agnes Grade School and Sacred
8Heart Academy; she married John "Jack" McCarthy at St. Agnes
9Catholic Church on January 8, 1955; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jeanne McCarthy was a longtime and active member
11of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where she attended Mass
12daily; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jeanne McCarthy was a wonderful cook whose
14Christmas spreads and fried chicken were legendary; she was an
15accomplished bridge player who spent countless evenings
16playing cards with her neighbors; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Jeanne McCarthy lived for her faith and her
18family, dedicating her life to loving and caring for her
19husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; she
20was the ultimate role model, teacher, and nurturer; and

1    WHEREAS, Jeanne McCarthy was preceded in death by her
2husband; her parents; and her son, John McCarthy Jr.; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Jeanne McCarthy is survived by her children,
4Michelle McCarthy, Timothy (Rose) McCarthy, and Michael
5McCarthy; her daughter-in-law, Leslie McCarthy; three
6grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her siblings,
7Catherine "Kit" Copeland, Marilyn Bush, and Elizabeth (Robert)
8Fox; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Eugenia C. "Jeanne" McCarthy and extend our sincere
12condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
13her; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Jeanne McCarthy as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
