| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Ronald Ray "Ron" Kuhn, who passed away | ||||||
| 4 | on April 6, 2026; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Ron Kuhn, the son of Orville Kuhn and Barbara | ||||||
| 6 | (Lemming) Kuhn, was born in Watseka on June 5, 1956; he was | ||||||
| 7 | raised on a livestock and grain farm; he graduated from Cissna | ||||||
| 8 | Park High School and continued his education at Parkland | ||||||
| 9 | College and Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where he | ||||||
| 10 | earned a bachelor's degree in sociology; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, After graduation, Ron Kuhn lived primarily in | ||||||
| 12 | Carbondale and Springfield, working first as a directory | ||||||
| 13 | assistance telephone operator for GTE; while in Springfield, | ||||||
| 14 | he built lasting friendships and labored at what he loved; he | ||||||
| 15 | found his passion in food service as a manager at the popular | ||||||
| 16 | Feed Store Restaurant, serving many government employees in | ||||||
| 17 | the Capital City; he was especially proud when he was tasked | ||||||
| 18 | with preparing a sandwich for the visiting President Barack | ||||||
| 19 | Obama in 2015; and | ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, While residing at an assisted living facility in | ||||||
| 21 | Danville, Ron Kuhn joined its residents' council, through | ||||||
| 22 | which he advocated for low-income residents to retain more of | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | their monthly Social Security benefits and secured more food | ||||||
| 2 | menu options for residents with food allergies and diabetes; | ||||||
| 3 | and | ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Ron Kuhn was a lifelong Illini and Chicago Cubs | ||||||
| 5 | fan, attending many games with family and friends, creating | ||||||
| 6 | special memories, and collecting Cubs memorabilia; he was also | ||||||
| 7 | a longtime subscriber to the weekly Cissna Park News and a | ||||||
| 8 | meticulous historian of the Iroquois County community and his | ||||||
| 9 | own family origins; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Ron Kuhn, a hardworking soul whose dedication and | ||||||
| 11 | perseverance shaped his life, was known for his natural | ||||||
| 12 | ability to lift spirits and his enduring love of family and | ||||||
| 13 | friends; always willing to serve as a champion for the | ||||||
| 14 | underdog, he will be remembered for his progressive political | ||||||
| 15 | values, his generosity, his kindness, and his wicked sense of | ||||||
| 16 | humor; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Ron Kuhn was preceded in death by his parents and | ||||||
| 18 | his siblings, Yvonne Johnson and Jim Kuhn; and | ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Ron Kuhn is survived by his sisters, Betty | ||||||
| 20 | Seidel, Donna (John) Brown, and Deb (Wayne) Mueller, and | ||||||
| 21 | several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; | ||||||
| 22 | therefore, be it | ||||||

| 1 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 2 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 3 | Ronald Ray "Ron" Kuhn and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
| 4 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 5 | further | ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 7 | presented to the family of Ron Kuhn as an expression of our | ||||||
| 8 | deepest sympathy. | ||||||
